This happens quite often in soccer. Happened to a Danish player at the last European championships. Lucky after the life saving CPR he went on to make a full recovery.

if the ambulance was waiting for relatives to arrive it says to me he's not in immediate life threatening situation. Fingers crossed he gets a positive outcome.

I'm an emergency medicine/critical care physician. If he has a pulse that's the most important thing. We can establish an airway for him. I wonder if the syncope/collapse is even related to the hit he suffered. Spine injury causing spinal/neurogenic shock leading to the arrest? Maybe. I wonder if he has undiagnosed HOCM or some undiagnosed cardiac abnormality but from what I know athletes are screened with ECHOs now a days...just throwing thoughts out there. Really hoping he's ok, I have faith if he has a stable rhythm.

I dont like skip but it's on a lot of minds. The game is secondary but he's right, this is an important game. It's irrelevant at this point. No one can expect either of these teams to come back out. The NFL has to postpone and figure it out at the earliest, tomorrow. Only if he is better.

It doesn't happen often. What you're referring to his athletes with undiagnosed HOCM - this is supposed to be screened for in the NFL and NBA with ECHOs.

nah man, no excuse for this. dude was given cpr for ten minutes on the field while all the players watched. wtf were they thinking.
