Lance has some Russell Wilson in him. He's kind of corny and he knows how to play the role when it's called for. I look at it as Fields being the quiet kid in the back of the class and Lance sitting in the front, arm raised high and greeting the teacher with a fresh apple every day.

Little things like these can be extrapolated in the predraft process and I think it had a lot to do with Fields falling.

Fields had legit concerns about how quickly he could read a defense and correctly get to the right read. He started the year off as the worst QB in the league but he went and told his coach he wants more run looks. So now the Bears are running more ROs and it's paying off. Defenses are forced to play a man down now and spy Fields which makes his job much easier. The TD pass to Mooney this past Sunday was all because Howard didn't have inside help cause he was spying Fields so he shaded inside and that's easy to exploit with an outside release and a accurate pass.

All quarterbacks have that concern coming out of college. Lawrence had regressed since his freshman year, literally all Zach Wilson did was run around in circles and throw across his body , Trey Lance played against high school competition. Mac Jones has been obnoxiously mediocre so obviously he isn't the super genius processor he was made out to be.

Him dropping had little to do with his ability to read defenses.

If Trey Lance had this game people on here would be losing their minds. But continue hating Fields

Actually for the most part, they would be killing Kyle. That is now 4 games for Justin with over 10+ carries.

Half the board would be pissed at Shanny for 14 carries yesterday. The other half would be calling for his head because the offensive genius couldn't muster more than 123 pass yards and in 9 games this year he has 4 outings with under 125 yards passing. Only one game out 9 with 200 yards or more passing

They weren't all designed runs. Completely different. If Fields drops back, escapes the pocket and gets you 60 yards and a TD, that is awesome.

When the coach "designs" 10+ runs between the tackles for your QB, that is not the same.

You're right, if we were 3-6 and Trey Lance just had a game where he passed for 121 yards on 4.4 YPA and lost, people here would be losing their minds. No disrespect to Fields, he has shown a lot of improvement, but he's just the latest shiny thing for people here to grasp onto to attack the FO. Last year it was Mac Jones, but since Jones has been mediocre at best, they're now latching onto Fields.

300 yards counts the same wether it's running or passing. He played well and to downplay it by bringing up his passing numbers is as disingenuous as SD writing off Lance after 4 games. Jalen Hurt and Lamar Jackson have had plenty of games where they passed for less than 150 yards and I'm pretty sure everyone on this board would take those 2 QBs.

It's not really disingenuous to point out that the fanbase would not be thrilled with 3-6 and 121 passing yards on 4.4 YPA in a loss.
From NFL.com

I love this kid. I love how Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has used him the last three weeks, too, when Fields has posted a 6:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 104.7 passer rating while rushing for 320 yards and three scores.

Yeah, the Bears lost to Dolphins, 35-32, but don't blame Fields. His 178 rushing yards are the most EVER by an NFL quarterback in a regular-season game. His electric, 61-yard scoring scamper was the longest TD run by a Bears QB in franchise history. Fields is the first player since at least 1950 with three-plus TD passes and 150-plus rushing yards in a game.

The numbers are amazing. The feel is even better. This Bears season is not about wins and losses; it's about Fields' growth, something that could put Chicago right back in the playoff picture in 2023. So far, Fields has enjoyed the best season of any quarterback from the 2021 class.

3-6 is a team stat. And explain to me how gaining 300 yards offense is different cause it was running and not throwing?

Sustainability? Rushing for a bunch of yards largely on two broken plays isn't something that is consistently repeatable if you can't pass the ball.

And 3-6 is a team stat, but if we're talking about the reaction of the fanbase as whole, based on what we've seen after the Chiefs game this year and last year when we were 3-5, do you think the fanbase would be happy with the QB, regardless of who it is, if the team was 3-6 right now?

It's two different franchises. Do you think Chicago fans are waking up today pissed about Fields being 3-6? Or do you think they are seeing a glimmer of hope a QB who despite having Pettis, Harry, Claypool and Mooney as his receivers is emerging into a player. As far as sustainability it's not like Fields is taking huge hits. He gets down or out of bounds. Once teams account to stop his running is when in theory he should have a easier time passing.

If you're faster not only than linebackers but maybe at least a portion of the corners in this league, perhaps a large portion, it just might be sustainable.

And McDaniel specifically schemed to stop Field's running. And he ran for the most yards in the history of the league in a regular season game- for a QB.

Rational people would be happy Kyle found a way to be effective with what he has. Cause air yards and rushing yards equate to being the exact same amount.

This is the webzone pal, we don't do rational around here.

With more speed around him and gets a little more consistent with his passing he could be like a Mike Vick.
