Fields has only recently started playing better. He now has around one full season of starts under his belt. Playing better is a relative term since his completion % is still only 58.9 for this season. Most games have been 60% 0r less. Much of his success is because of his running which is off the charts. The question is how long will that last. Eventually he will need to stop running so much if he wants to have along career.

He doesn't have Lamars' Fullback body with running back speed. He was crying when the niners barely hit him out of bounds as well. He's a fantasy darling which is why he's popular right now. A lot of points for running. If he ever gets an acl tear or dinged up , he'll have to rely on his throwing only.

IMO jury is still out for me. It's barely his second year so.. time will tell. I don't think he's the next Mahomes tho.

I must have gone through my Rip VanWinkle phase these past few weeks. I must have been sleeping and missed all these recent games when Trey Lance has been throwing all these passes that give us a legitimate basis for comparison. Where can I go to see the replay of all these games I have missed?

Fields will likely continue to run until he gets some legit weapons to throw to. That won't happen until next year. In the meantime, he will continue to get better as the talent allows.

The Bears will have $105M in cap money to spend next year, almost double the next team. They can buy a lot of talent to put around the kid. They also have 5 picks in the first four rounds of the 2023 draft. Assuming Fields continues to improve this season, da Bears could make some noise next season.

You need to stop with this narrative. Lance isn't even playing and hasn't played for two months. There is no honest basis for comparison until Lance actually has extended time as a starter when fully healthy.
