Yeah, if they're smart they'll hire the hc and let him pick the GM to work with. I think coaches should have final say in personnel.

chargers ownership is a cheap joke, they're a talented team but have been for over a decade and always suck. Raiders are going to keep pierce.

i wouldn't touch the commies with a 10 foot pole. Just a joke of an org with a new owner.

Coaches should have the final say on the 53. They don't have the time to look at all the film of the players and FA's though.

Don't underestimate Davis being desperate and handing Harbaugh the entire keys.

If the bills don't have an impressive performance in the playoffs this year, I'd fire McDermott and throw the bank at harbaugh. Josh allen is exactly his kind of QB. He would have that team in serious contention with the discipline and All that.

That's the scenario, what if this bad PIT team beats BUF outright, now that could be a firing, not saying BUF would lose, but if they did

I think you can make a clip of anyone doing this. The issue is can he do it consistently, within the same game, play after play. Fields was my fav QB of that draft, even over Lawrence, so a part of me would love for him to put it together.

You could show me 8 1/2 minutes of Justin Fields making quick reads/on time throws/on schedule throws and my response would be the same: BFD.

Justin Fields has had three seasons to prove that he can be a winner in the NFL. He hasn't done it. Period. That's all you need to know. I can't believe some of the absolute nonsense coming from NFL writers about how many first round draft picks Fields is potentially worth in any trade. That answer, imo, is zero. Any GM who trades for him will be fired. Period. Unless they give up something like a single 4th round pick. Fields might be worth that. But even that is a stretch.

The NY Giants made a huge mistake with Daniel Jones last season. They gave him a contract when, in reality, he should have been cut loose. Instead, Jones got his big payday and absolutely flopped. That scenario will play out again for any team that declares "Justin Fields is my guy."

I think Jayden Daniel is another Justin Fields type player imo
They found the only throws he ever made on time and on schedule. Now you can make a 100 hour video of him not being able to find his first read. Much less a 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Definitely getting traded now.

Maybe it's an argument over semantics but here's the problem with that.

We can't pick and choose when wins and losses are because of the quarterback or because of the team and organization as a whole. Otherwise Jimmy G is near elite. At least Jimmy G here is near elite. Justin Herbert hasn't proven he can be a winner in the NFL and a lot of teams would take him tomorrow. But is that his fault or the situation he's been in? Jeff Garcia didn't prove he was a winner even in college because he played at San Jose State. He was pretty good here. Alex Smith looked like he would be lost for his entire career until Jim Harbaugh came along. Steve Young was a bum in Tampa Bay. Vinny Testaverde looked like he would be a bum and while he probably never lived up to his number one overall pick status, he actually wound up having a decent, and long, NFL career.

Not saying Fields is going to be any of those guys, even Jimmy G or that he's worth several first round picks. He isn't. But he also may be better in another situation or even in the same situation but with a better/different OC- which Chicago obviously has now. We'll see.
I would keep Fields, not so much cuz Fields, but cuz swinging in the draft usually bombs.

Bryce Young taken ahead of Stroud.
Bears took Trubisky ahead of Mahomes.
Bears drafted Fields.

So CHI is drafting those high end QBs, and getting nowhere. Time to build up the roster. Trade out of pick 1, maybe to pick 3. Give NE their pick of QB (another team who bombed taking a QB in the draft recently). Get a haul and maybe Harrison.

Pitts, and London want a real pocket QB, to get the ball out on time, they have had scramblers their whole career, who aren't good from the pocket. So Fields I view as more of the same, and I don't see ATL going in that direction, particularly in light of a coaching change. No sense with London getting 1 target a game, so you have some playmakers, and Bijan also. Get a point guard would be my recommendation.

Kind of defeats the purpose huh? Maximize the value of the 1st pick by trading and adding players you can't effectively utilize.

You would keep Fields but also call him a bomb....

I think he's under a fully gtd contract, so he's not really cutable. You can trade him. But then you would need to find 2 QBs. I would probably keep him and add a QB to compete for the QB1 job.

He's definitely cutable, he's on his rookie contract, it's not a big hit. But there will be suitors for him anyways. I'm very curious to see what teams are willing to give up for him. Don't expect a first though. Conditional 2nd? and some change?
