Social media cardiologists were immediately diagnosing it as CC
There are multiple videos being shared of CC happening in sporting events that predate covid
Hockey-Chris Pronger took a puck to the chest in 1998
Unidentified martial arts competition
We already know facts mean nothing to the conspiracy crowd...

Praying for a similar recovery and outlook for Damar Hamlin…Pronger was back on the ice weeks later and played 12 more seasons en route to the Hockey Hall of Fame. 🙏pic.twitter.com/qYfT8kv66s

It's a phenomenon where an unexpected blunt impact to the chest causes sudden death in the absence of cardiac damage.
In other words, ventricular fibrillation caused by blunt trauma to the heart😣

Can we not even mention that stuff here and keep this about praying for Hamlin? No use bringing up what is happening on Twitter.

I heard his Charity Toy Drive he was running was at $12,000 something before this happened, now it looks like it is at 3 Million!

For real. Ryan Clark has been amazing on-air in covering Damar Hamlin for ESPN. It's an impossible situation for any broadcaster, let alone a former player. pic.twitter.com/OV04OgUnt9

Can't imagine whats going through players minds after what transpired last night. I know for a fact that if I was a player, I'd be scared to death to get hit in the chest.
prayers for Hamlin!

And its something that seems unpreventable when playing Tackle Football. No one did anything wrong on that play and wasn't something really freaky. Just hope he recovers and no one else has to go through that again. There is really nothing the NFL can do to change anything.

The fact that there has been only one on field death in the NFL is amazing. High school and college has some every year but the NFL has only had one in 1971.
Hats off to the medical staff at the stadium for keeping Hamlin alive. Let's hope he has a full recovery.

The number of high school and college games dwarfs the number of NFL games.

True but the players aren't usually as big and don't hit as hard. I think most of the deaths in HS and college result from undiagnosed heart conditions. If they make it to the NFL then they get better physicals. Still when 300+ lb guys are exerting that much stress on their heart, it's always a possibility. Then you add the violent collisions and you have even more possibilities.

Not sure how we don't see it more on those Punt Return hits. I have seen some really nasty hits on a Punt returner with guys going full speed at him. If the NFL does something, I assume it will be related to this.
