True but the players aren't usually as big and don't hit as hard. I think most of the deaths in HS and college result from undiagnosed heart conditions. If they make it to the NFL then they get better physicals. Still when 300+ lb guys are exerting that much stress on their heart, it's always a possibility. Then you add the violent collisions and you have even more possibilities.
You don't necessarily need a tremendous amount of force, it's about getting hit in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Plus most high school and college athletes aren't going to have the sort of detailed medical exams that weed out underlying heart conditions.
