Leave Bosa on 1 on 1 with odd fronts.

Play Hufanga in the box a little bit more because he is a playmaker.
Trade for a CB if you need.

If they weren't going to go with Vic Fangio then they should have named someone on our staff as DC like Kocurek.

Kocurek has no interest in being a DC and has said so many times. The guy likes coaching DL.
The issue isn't in going outside the staff, I think it's more that Kyle went from two open minded and creative young high energy coaches to an older coach who is pretty firmly stuck in his ways, even if he said all the right things at the interview. I was convinced then and now that if they weren't going to get a proven DC like Fangio or Gym Shorts then going with a young and inventive first time DC was the way to go.

I totally agree. If they weren't going with a proven DC, then they should have gone with a young, inventive first time DC.

Eh, this pretty much is his defense. Vanilla up front, lots of blitzing, heavy zone coverage, constantly getting gashed by the run game. He's had one good year as a defensive coordinator and was meh to terrible just about every other one.
