Wilks has been below average his whole career. This is the same guy who wanted Oliver because he was so good at the slot.

Elite defense/elite defensive coordinator.
Under James Bettcher the Cards were Top 10 in run defense in 2016 and 2017. Wilks takes over and in 2018 the Cardinals finish dead last in the NFL in run defense.
Textbook bad hire.
No way around it at this point.

oliver made a couple tackles today. Im not mad. everyone throws on us. pretty sure there is zero technique being taught

Yeah it is what it is. Kyle has been very good with coaching hires. He was bound to have a bad one but this one hurts. This defense has no heart.

A top defense doesn't just suddenly fall off a cliff normally. If its two people playing worse, then its a personnel issue, if nearly the entire defense is playing worse, that's a coaching issue.
