I am not trusting Steve Wilks defensive philosophy. I think this was a bad hire for the personnel. It seems as if he's calling the game like the strength of the defense is the secondary. No creativity at all up front. T-E stunt is about as creative he's gotten, which only got home once from what I saw.

If we win the SB it's will be in spite of Wilks defensive scheme. He is seriously wasting the talent on this defense. I don't trust his scheme or philosophy can carry this team when it needs. I hate to say this but, with the talent of this defense and the SB expectations, Wilks just may be in over his head. When games get close like it was today, and defensive creativity is needed from him scheme-wise, I have no faith that he'll be able to rise to the occasion.
SuperBowl SuperBowl not happening not with Wilks running the D Kyle has wasted another year with this BAD HIRE got to Fire Him Now get that STank off the Defense before its too late. His play calling has Philly and everybody else laughing at our D what a JOKE

That's probably my one complaint with Wilkes. You could see the defense feed off of Salah and Ryans being on the sideline going nuts after a big play. You don't see that with Wilkes because he's up in the booth (and probably not his personality anyways).

With that said, Wilkes is doing a good job. I'd like to see more sacks from the defensive line, but I'm not going to complain about the interceptions.

A good job are you serious really what games have you been watching ...ooh I get it you must be a TROLL
People are defending Wilks because of point totals. 22 pts is not that much, but it is the long drives and the way the defense gets gashed this year that is bad. The Vikings had the ball FOREVER this game. Even if they ended with 10 pts, the TOP is so bad. The Browns only got 19 pts, did the D play good? Did they play good against the cardinals only giving up 16 pts? How about the Rams or Giants? This D needs to fix itself

The year he was actually the DC, i think the rams had the #1 defense and they won the Chip if I'm not mistaken?
Didnt Reid and Mahomies carve up Ryans last year?

Who's defending Wilks? Are you just making it up for your arguments sake?
This guy stinks like ball sweat

Both of them have that "leader" moniker that apparently is supposed to shield mediocre coaches from criticism. Like Carolina screwed up by not making Wilks a HC because he's a "leader."

It's Singletary syndrome. A guy looks and sounds the part, talks a big game and all.

I think people greatly underrated just what a stellar job both Saleh and Ryans did and how they were able to consistently put guys in the best position to be successful.

Sure...people were in the right place no doubt..... but QB's use to not be able to read the defense pre-snap too.

We had this conversation in the offseason..... do you defend the player, or do you defend the grass.

Normally Fans hate defending the grass like the 49ers use to do, but this LB core is so fast it leads to gang tackles and players rallying to the ball.

Now it sure seems teams are scheming the defenders into following the offense right out of the spots the offense wants them to leave. IF they can't manipulate the defender into leaving, they are just rubbing them off due to the predictable coverage.

Everyone remember this year....so 10 years from now when someone is wondering how important the system is....you can say hey "hey...we had the most talented 49er defense in decades...and they got beat like a drum"

And now he's the Chargers DC completely s**tting the bed with Bosa, Mack, James, Samuel

Wilkes is an old a$& piece of cr¥%.

he is too old to understand modern play calling

he's only surviving off of our superior defensive talent.

it's a crime that the weak link on defense is the DC

Having Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Jalen Ramsay and more makes even blah coaches look a lot smarter.
The worse call of the night is the 3rd and 16 16 seconds left and no timeouts and he.calls a blitz? Any completion and the half runs out and our front four should be enough. That cost us the game.
