There's a difference between making great plays in the redzone and being lucky that the other team screwed up what should have been gimme plays. This defense looked helpless to stop Minnesota all game long and got lit up by mostly scrubs.

All season long there's been receivers wide open across the middle of the defense. Not giving up more points has mostly been due to bad QBs missing easy layups. I was hoping that the issue was players needing to get more comfortable with the scheme and settle in but at this point I think the scheme just doesn't fit the talent that is on the roster.

This is bend and then break as you have a playcaller calling defense for the players he wishes he had and not maximizing the talent of the ones he does have.

That's what I thought too, that players just needed to get comfortable. But nope, it's the talent alone keeping teams from not scoring 30+ points on this team. Dude thinks he can just come in here and be an X's and O's guy but I think it's more about relationships with this defense like how Saleh and Ryans had. I guarantee Bosa, Warner, Greenlaw and Armstead appreciated it more played harder for a DC that was on the sidelines. Saleh and Ryans could communicate with the whole defense and gather them up to settle them down. How the does Wilks do that from the booth, "hey put so and so on the phone lemme speak with him", that s**t don't work well with this defense.

Not a great night, especially that call at the end of the half, but they only gave up 22 points despite the offense turning the ball over 3 times. Hard to win when your QB keeps throwing it to the other team.

While true, that call changed the game.

Going into halftime down 10-7 is a lot different then 16-7.

It was ultimately the difference in the game.

A play like that should never happen. Your entire goal in that situation is to keep everything in front of you and keep the clock moving.

It was one of the worst called defensive plays I've ever seen.

Yeah. It was a ridiculous call.

"only" gave up 22. They gave up all those points before the INTs. So that wasn't the problem. The defense was horrific. It's on Wilks and Shanahan.

Sending 7 and only keeping 4 in coverage when you just need to keep the offense from making any long gains was...a choice.

mostly by Kirk, Addison, Hock, I wouldn't call a lot of those guys, scrubs

It's just astonishing. An absolutely horrific play call. He can't be the defensive coordinator. He's not qualified.
The only reason the Vikings didn't score 40 tonight was because they held the ball for 35!! minutes!! going on 6-7 minute drives eating clock. They must've picked up a hundred first downs.

It ultimately comes down to points scored and points allowed. If I knew ahead of time that we would hold them to only 6 points in the 2nd half, I'd feel pretty good about our chances.

Addison is a rookie WR who had never gone over 70 yards before tonight and they made him look like prime Steve Smith. Just about every fame they manage to make one random WR look like an All Pro.
Is there any chance John Lynch can force Steve Wilks to use DeMeco Ryans playbook? Would he even know how to?

Kyle Shanahan should be able to recognize any/all issues with the defensive playcalling. Be a manager and get it corrected.

Eh, with Cousins it wasn't going to matter. He's like Stafford and Puka Nacua. Two HOF Gunslingers that find ways to make it work with some unheralded guys.
