In one year under Wilks, the Cards went from ranked 6th to 20th defense. Wilks talked a lot about how lucky he was to have so many weapons on the defense and how he was going to unleash all that talent. Everyone in the organization commended his leadership and professionalism.
Opposing offenses then ran the ball down their throats, they couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs, coverage lapses led to easy pickings for big plays down the field and the blitzing was entirely predictable compared to Todd Bowles.

This. Seems that teams have already found his tendencies and unless he changes his stripes, it's only gonna get worse. What an embarrassment to play this way with all that has been invested on that side of the ball.

There's zero reason for him to make a lateral move and zero reason for the Jets to allow it.

We all hope that. But how bad would that game have been if Jefferson was playing? My LAWD!

I know it's a pipe dream. But sometimes people make lateral moves to be closer to family and a familiar environment.

you see this phenomenon every year, last 2 Octobers, it was fire Kyle, after the slow starts
ppl also wanted McG cut all season, same McG who went on to be a top FA
it's about finding a scapegoat and piling on, the ppl have chosen Wilks, I think he's getting piled on more than deserved
plenty of blame to go around, offense, D and special teams
I don't see the defense turning it around unless the scheme changes.
Why is the defensive line getting less pressure then the last 3 years? Why are guys wide open on 3rd and 12? Too many issues i see on gameday not to be concerned. This defense sucks and any playoff team will have a field day against it.
It is literally the same players as last year. What changed?
I think the only thing saving this defense at the moment is the play of Warner & Greenlaw and the way its going they will be done in a few weeks from exhaustion.

There's zero chance Wilks gets replaced this year. Let's come back to earth. He either needs to figure it out, or the offense and game plan needs to be designed around a defense that can't stop a running toilet.

Anyone already on the staff that would fit the bill? Promoting from in house was working best because they were already familiar with the personnel. This hire was a mistake from the beginning, for the wrong reasons.
I'm not entirely sure, but I'd much prefer someone who has at least some energy to Energize this defense right now. It's only gonna get worse from here on our with some of the games we've got coming up.
Let's be thankful we don't have the Chiefs, Bills or Dolphins on our schedule haha

KC also missed a couple of TD throws. Could have been much worse.

Oh but we will toss in Kinlaw to make him trade him

i'll give a quote, points if anyone can guess who is being discussed :
This is the guy who needs to be fired first, like ASAP. This defense is seriously the worst in the NFL.

Sounds familiar to what he is doing to the Niner D. They are taking a step back from last year.

All those stats happened despite Wilks. It's only because we have players like Dre, Fred that make outstanding contributions.
Our eyes don't lie: we're not sacking the QB despite having one of the highest paid DLs and adding Hargrave who looks like he's an upgrade.
The defensive calls are bad and they must be predictable because other teams are competing 3rd and long. Before last night the Vikings were 35% on 3rd down. Last night almost 80%. It's not just luck, it's the coaches putting the players in the wrong position to succeed.
That 3rd down play before the half with 16 seconds and leaving no one deep was absolute stupidity. Kyle and Lynch need to be having a talk with Wilks today and get his calls straight. He's also tipping a predictable coverage on 3rd downs and they need to disguise or change things up.
Whitner said last night if our front 4 isn't getting to the QB, then you blitz and don't get home you dont keep doing it and leaving your weak CBs on one on one coverage. You cover them up and get coverage sacks. When was the last time we did that? Wilks lacks patience and is predictable.
on the bold here, what do you want Wilks to do, sack the QBs himself, guys have to win up front, it's that simple,
guys have to win in coverage, so the QB holds the ball
I am seeing bad plays out of Gip 2 weeks in a row at bad moments, and Huf I suspect hasn't been right all year with the knee issue
They're not getting home. At the end when I thought Bosa was going to close on Cousins but let up I couldn't believe. Not sure if it's line stunts, and we know Kokurek hasn't changed but someone who understands D line play explain what is different this year vs the previous 5 other than Wilks play calls?
