Exactly!! Wilks has zero excuses!!!

What about mental deficiency?

The players or Wilks.

i'll give a quote, points if anyone can guess who is being discussed :

This is the guy who needs to be fired first, like ASAP. This defense is seriously the worst in the NFL.

Ryans?

we have a winner
as you can see, we do this about every DC, and we have had good ones, that ppl want canned if not every game is a shutout
ppl wanted Ryans canned and they wanted Saleh canned, it's the same stuff every loss, overreact, and everyone is fired, let's get real, learn from the past, I like Wilks, let's give him a chance to grow into his role, learn from mistakes, we give the same to Brock, Moody, all these guys, they are making mistakes also, and will be out there on Sunday all the same
Give him a chance to grow give me a break this guy's been around for a long time his track record say this is who he is,comparing him to young inexperienced coordinators at the time and young players like Purdy & Moody is apples to oranges.

I don't care who you are it takes time, I recall reading about Dungy, he went from I think Tampa to Indy, and he reworked their entire D, it took maybe 3/4s of a season to get players buying in and running their Tampa 2 style. I don't think Wilks is making dramatic scheme changes, but it's not all bad here. We lead the NFL in picks. Top 3 in points allowed. Perspective is > than panic, after a loss. I see lots of panic, would like more nuanced perspectives.

Why are we reworking a scheme that was tops in the NFL and has a roster built around that scheme?

I don't think we are reworking the scheme, that was my line above that we aren't making dramatic scheme changes. Just not a fan of judging someone as needing to be fired, after 7 games, when we are a top 3 unit in points allowed. Let's give it time, in that regard.

There's zero chance Wilks gets replaced this year. Let's come back to earth. He either needs to figure it out, or the offense and game plan needs to be designed around a defense that can't stop a running toilet.

No chance he gets fired, but play calling responsibilities could be reassigned if we keep struggling.
Here's one coordinator we don't have to worry about being poached from the staff. We have to worry about him NOT being poached from the staff.

Only problem is Ryans was a first time DC. This is not Wilks first rodeo and its always the same. Take a good or great defense and watch them drop like a rock to the bottom of the league. He has never once had a defense and then it got better with him as a DC. Not once! He ALWAYS makes the defense worse. His scheme sucks and it has sucked every single time he has gotten his hands on it. HE has taken top 5 defenses and turned them into bottom 10 defenses. He should not be a DC. He is a secondary coach and that is as good as he will ever be unless he learns dline and linebackers. He blows. It is obvious watching his lack of imagination and use of line and linebackers. He needs to be replaced by anyone who knows how to use defensive line and linebackers to get pressure on the qb and stop the run. Wilks has single handed removed our best assets on defense from the picture. They are nowhere to be found stopping the run and getting sacks. He has taken the reigning defensive player of the year and schemed him out of the game. Most coaches scheme to make those great players better. Wilks does the exact opposite. Anyone defending his scheme are insane.

His scheme is predictable. Without the DLine dominating it doesn't look like it's working.

I think the DL struggles are directly related to the scheme.

We were #1 last year, hard to do better,

However this year, we actually are allowing fewer ppg, than last season. that's perhaps the most straightforward metric to measure a D, points.
you would be hard pressed to find metrics we are bottom 10
more like top 10

The cardinals, steelers, browns, and giants are among the worst scoring offenses in the league.

Points allowed is an awful stat with the teams and QBs we've faced thus far.

Browns just dropped a near 40 spot on Indy with PJ
Cards outright beat DAL
let's add DAL and how we looked on D vs them
we can only play the guys on our schedule, we are allowing 15 ppg that's pretty insanely good, last year was 16
and ppl want the guy buried
it ain't happening, KS will address the play call at end of half, and we go forward, I expect a strong showing vs CIN

That's what has changed. The players are the same.
