Situational play calling has been an issue in almost every game and that can definitely be fixed. It's just how much more do we need to see. Next week at home against a loaded pass offense will be another test.

We've faced 3 'good' QBs so far and were pretty abysmal against two of them. Thankfully Kyren Williams decided to just hand the ball to our defense in the Rams game.

The league has taken notice that the 49ers aren't getting the sacks like they were last year. That's allowing them to take more shots downfield which exposes the slow footed DBs. It's no surprise that they get called for defensive holding a lot. They have to grab the receiver to keep from getting beat downfield.

I mentioned earlier that I was wondering how many of our PI/Holding/Illegal contact penalties were happening when we send extra rushers. Honestly curious to see. Need YACBros to chart it, lol.

They are over doing those calls by a long shot against this team. To an unfair level.

If I recall all the deep shots that happened early last year (or was it the year before?!) and we kept getting PI, holding etc...... and Demeco and co spent an entire week cleaning it up at practice because he admitted they didnt really emphasize deep shot coverages etc. It did improve after that.

No idea why the pass rush is so impotent this year. Hargrave has looked good imo, but AA, Bosa, and whomever they put at the other end just looked weaker/slower/not engaged etc.

While some blame can be put on the players, the whole unit has dropped off. Only 1 thing has changed.

Three calls that went against us should have been on vikes. Illegal pick opi and rdouble move into defender. All bs.

My only question about the game plan is, will stevie go for the BLT?
Rex Ryan is available
How many cousins passes went for 20-30 yd completions…right over the middle? Ten? More? No question, Cuzins was on fire and played the best QBing of any I have seen this yr The guy just didn't miss. I have also seen him play stinker games where he looked old, beat up tired and off target.

So what happened here? Cuzins was just red hot and almost perfect.

However….Wilks and that incredibly stupid last D call in first half gave the Vikes the margin they won by. How in the world could Wilks have called a 6 man blitz and leave 2 DBs in single coverage, with cuzins beating them all during the first half? Wilks must have gone to sleep up in the box to make a dumb azz call like that. Now if he was trying to stop the Vikes with a sack and gives us a shot at scoring just before the half with 30 seconds to go….well, it was still stupid. That was the one worst play call I have seen in yrs.

The other issue , 10 or more 3rd down plays (or a couple on 1st or 2nd down), for 20-30 yards….ok, you see it once, fine. Twice fine…but 10 times the Same pass 20-30 yds downfield in middle of field…why couldn't Wilks do something, anything to put a stop to that?

Without a doubt we got outcoached both on D and on O tho not as bad. Strange how i said the same thing last week…we got outcoached on both O and D.

Kyle can do better. But can Wilks? Kyle is also HC so he is responsible for that miserable D play in the backfield. His team, and OC or not, it is his job to make sure that kind of stuff on the D doesn't happen. C'mon Coach…get with it. We need help and I mean for Wilks also.
Kirk was not red hot, Wilks is just awful, total crap. 9ers players deserve better than that s**t

See if Dean Pees wants to unretire for the third time.

He has teeth as large as a white picket fence! At least the players will be able to read what he's saying. Pretty sure he's done.

John Harbaugh fired one of his coordinators this far into the season. It's not unheard of.

Make sure you get as much use out of this talking point as you can now....because lord knows the defense is not trending in the right direction...you might only have a few weeks left to say this....

Of course at that point...once they loose the less PPG stat, is the defense instantly worse? Or was it just a reflection of playing banged up teams with back up QBs?
