in the 2 weeks we are giving up 20.5 ppg
I think the hate in here is a tad overblown
even 20.5 ppg would be above most NFL teams

The 49ers brass may have blown this season with the Wilkes hire. We are probably less than 25th in the NFL against the run at this point. This is a catastrophic drop off for a sb ready team from where it was a year ago, same players, different DC plus upgrade at nose tackle. Don't think you get it. 20+ point per game against, won't win a playoff game. We've just given up 40 against a 3d string qb and a 2-4 team, in 2 weeks. I was at the Browns game and was expecting maybe 9 points against. Mon should have been 10-13 points(Cousins still pretty good). A SB defense gives up 20-22 points in last 2 games. Whomever made the call for Wilkes just set us back to before Harbaugh.

My only thought is the guy has been around the block. He bombs out here he is going on some podcast for the rest of his career. I would hope he is intelligent enough to realize it, but I'm thinking he is not a strong x/O mind. Someone with his experience should be a whiz, but he seems dated and easy to figure out.

Or we may be doing overreaction central. You can find the same fire Saleh and fire Ryans takes in the respective threads. It's clown commentary, as we look back on those past remarks. I think Wilks is an impressive dude, he's been named HC, named interim HC, they don't just hand those out to anybody, he's a great DC and time will show it imo. Just gotta have some faith in what we are building here. It ain't gonna be wins and pretty every week, this is the NFL.

He's an easy target right now, a lot of these guys were good coordinators not HCs but good position coaches and coordinators
not like these guys don't know football, it just didn't work out for them as HCs, Wilks isn't our HC

He talks like he knows what he's doing, he's likable and seen as hard working. Those three things together will get you a lot of opportunities.
He was out of the NFL for a couple seasons, spent a year in college as a DC at Missouri which didn't go..great and then Rhule brought him back to Carolina as a glorified secondary coach before he was made interim HC after Rhule was fires. The NFL had mostly moved on from this guy so it's even more puzzling that he is who Kyle settled on.

Hes an easy target because aside from Hargrave being added, the defense had no major changes other than Wilks being hired to be DC and the defense is being exposed all over the place right now with even mediocre QBs picking them apart.
He was falling out of the NFL and even struggling as a DC in college before Rhule brought him in last year to be a secondary coach. Just like Vance Joseph and Ed Donatell, that's his NFL ceiling.
