Gorgeous pass this one and to Conley. I think his issue was never talent, he can play, it's his coaching / are guys open. We check both those boxes, in a major way. I feel great on QB1 and QB2. It's a good room. We will see if they want to carry Allen.

I think Darnolds problem is his inconsistency . Hopefully with Kyle's offense it might provide structure enough to have Darnold making consistent good decisions. Have to wait and see.

That really is a hell of a throw by darnold, awesome catch by snead too. I'd like to see him make the roster.

I've read by some posters that darnold only goes with his first read but I don't believe that. Maybe he does, and I just haven't seen it, but I think he's very capable of playing well in our system with our talent. It would of been cool to see him with the ones(no drops, better o line play, fewer penalties) and see how he would of looked.

i thought he executed his individual responsibilities well and threw to the right guy most of the time. He was more accurate than I anticipated (I think he had 11 drops).

I def thought he earned QB2. I don't want to see him play this year but I think if he needs to fill in for two games or so, that he can play well enough for us to win. I'm not expecting Great play from him but solid. He had some great passes in the pre season (WRs made some great catches too)

You could almost hear it from Sam, he was asked about this offense, he loved how clear it was. Very 'black and white' is what he said. In terms of the QB responsibility.

Some on this forum love building up these kinds of QBs, only until they get on the field and then the conversation changes.

I actually still believed that Sam could salvage his career before he got here.. watched his Panthers season. But after watching him this season... he looks the same. A flash throw here and there, but gets in his own head or something. Yeah yeah, but this is a Vet. All the physical tools though. He's deceptively fast for his size.

The play before that he tried to gift wrap an INT, throwing right into the hands of the defender.

Baldy acknowledged this on 957 today. He loved the throw listed above, but not much else from the last game.

Darnold wasn't dinking and dunking. He was throwing bombs. His ypa last year was very high.

Let's be honest, Trey didn't separate himself enough from Darnold to justify taking on the dead cap hit in 2024. It was more of a financial decision than anything else, in my opinion which doesn't matter much.

PFF said all of his incompletions were drops. The penalties on the offensive line didn't help either. Imagine him playing with the first team. That would be black and white.
