I'm still unsure about Darnold. I like Allen better. Seems more consistent, precise, and anticipatory. We'll see as the games unfold whether he'll cut it or not. I expect Brock to play a majority of snaps with Darnold as cleanup hitter, or subbing in for a Brock Purdy ding or two during the season.

Gorgeous pass this one and to Conley. I think his issue was never talent, he can play, it's his coaching / are guys open. We check both those boxes, in a major way. I feel great on QB1 and QB2. It's a good room. We will see if they want to carry Allen.

Adam Gase and Matt Rhule didn't help his case at all.

Neither did Sam Darnold.

Actually he did help his case by showing he can play when he has a competent head coach last year. Sure his passing wasn't quite as impressive but he showed he can manage the game with minimum mistakes when the team has his back.

Yeah I didn't know much about him, until we signed him. He has some flat out ridiculous plays on tape, insane throws few are making. Check this one:

reminds me of Purdy to BA a bit, which was also incomplete:

There was still a ton of bad. He's a backup which is fine.

I love it, I love that he's the back up and plays similar to Purdy. I think this is the right head coach and right offense for him. Also not as much pressure on him to be thee guy, sitting and learning should do him some good.

Yes there was, no denying that. But adding context would also understand why there was some bad. But he's the back up and not much pressure will be on him.

How would Purdy perform in an Adam Gase or Matt Rhule offense?

I get your drift, days, but from my perspective.. I don't care how he would perform, all the matters for us, is how he performs for us. Same goes for Sam, and all our guys. More interested in how they will help us or can help us, win games.

Probably a lot like Tedddy Bridgewater did. Considerably more productive then Sam.

2pt, did you see the play I shared, above?

How would you know that? Darnold had a lower INT rate than Purdy last year on a terrible Carolina team. Imagine Darnold with Purdy's weapons.

You can evaluate the players on film free of their surrounding talent in case you didn't know.

Because from what I've seen from Purdy he seems to play qb at a higher level than Teddy B and Teddy was far more productive than Sam in that same offense you bemoan as terrible.

The only way to evaluate both QBs is if they're playing with the same talent. We need to see Darnold in action with the 49ers first team before we can determine if he should play the starter role or the backup role. He made some spectacular throws in the preseason to receivers who didn't even make the team and are now on the practice squad (Snead, Conley, Winstead). Purdy hasn't made those throws to our Pro Bowlers.
