The only way to evaluate both QBs is if they're playing with the same talent. We need to see Darnold in action with the 49ers first team before we can determine if he should play the starter role or the backup role. He made some spectacular throws in the preseason to receivers who didn't even make the team and are now on the practice squad (Snead, Conley, Winstead). Purdy hasn't made those throws to our Pro Bowlers.

Because from what I've seen from Purdy he seems to play qb at a higher level than Teddy B and Teddy was far more productive than Sam in that same offense you bemoan as terrible.

Sam had a higher ypa/ypc and lower INT rate than Purdy last year, throwing to receivers who are out of the NFL. What makes you think his numbers would look worse that last year's throwing to Aiyuk, Deebo, CMC and Kittle?

Absolutely dead wrong. Surrounding talent alters production and team statistics more than anything else.

Substantive comment. Do you think 5 yard dinks are really utilizing the entire skillset of our Pro Bowl receivers? Until Purdy can make the throws Sam did in the preseason, there is an open question whether we have the QB to beat Mahomes.

A backup QB who made deep throws outside the numbers in the preseason to practice squad players that our QB1 has never made?

You are right, there is an open question whether we have the QB in Purdy to beat Mahomes.

There is no open question in regards to Sam Darnold. It's a No

How would you know that? Darnold had a lower INT rate than Purdy last year on a terrible Carolina team. Imagine Darnold with Purdy's weapons.

Teddy B lol

Yes, and usually if you're playing with better players, your numbers go up. Purdy and Jimmy G (who everyone here wanted gone) had the same 16td, 4 INT stats. It's not like Purdy came in and we started winning. Jimmy G won 5 straight games before he got hurt. The team was already on a roll.

You know this but Purdy and our offense will face the Chiefs defense in this scenario and vice versa.

Purdy will never be better than Mahomes, and he doesn't have to be.

And if you watched the film with an ounce of football understanding you'd understand why Brock played better than Jimmy… in spite of similar team statistics.

Have fun being lost :)

Very aware. Do think Purdy needs to play at a top 10 level though.

Was mostly just using his logic against him.
