Gorgeous pass this one and to Conley. I think his issue was never talent, he can play, it's his coaching / are guys open. We check both those boxes, in a major way. I feel great on QB1 and QB2. It's a good room. We will see if they want to carry Allen.

Adam Gase and Matt Rhule didn't help his case at all.

Neither did Sam Darnold.

Actually he did help his case by showing he can play when he has a competent head coach last year. Sure his passing wasn't quite as impressive but he showed he can manage the game with minimum mistakes when the team has his back.

I would have to watch the games to say he made minimal mistakes. Maybe you did, but I have my doubts you watched the last 6 Panthers games last season haha. But even based on his stats, he had 3 picks and 6 fumbles in his last 6 games. But watching the game, I would assume there were more mistakes than just that.

Substantive comment. Do you think 5 yard dinks are really utilizing the entire skillset of our Pro Bowl receivers? Until Purdy can make the throws Sam did in the preseason, there is an open question whether we have the QB to beat Mahomes.

This fixation with Mahomes, he ain't on our schedule. That's last years team. More worried about the Steelers to be honest. Let's not get ahead of ourselves with fictional matchups. Now if it happens, then we can talk, and we will have 2 weeks to prepare.

Numbers speak for themselves.

Oh I ain't talking about numbers, I'm talking about traits. Can you play the game? Give me Darnold over Bridgewater. It ain't even close.

Very aware. Do think Purdy needs to play at a top 10 level though.

Was mostly just using his logic against him.

Oh I know you were. Just prefer that s**t to be hit with a hammer myself, lol.

Compare Purdy's 2022 throws with Sam's 2023 preseason throws.

I'll let you decide who made the better throws.

The only way to evaluate both QBs is if they're playing with the same talent. We need to see Darnold in action with the 49ers first team before we can determine if he should play the starter role or the backup role. He made some spectacular throws in the preseason to receivers who didn't even make the team and are now on the practice squad (Snead, Conley, Winstead). Purdy hasn't made those throws to our Pro Bowlers.

I can't argue with this other than to say I'd only like to see it when the 9ers are winning by 21+ in the 4th qt..

would you start Sam over Brock?

Have fun being lost :)

How many deep and outside the numbers throws did Purdy make in that Dallas playoff game? If Dak hadn't thrown 2 clumsy INTs, we would have lost on our home turf.

You're so close to realizing how football games are actually won. Keep going!

I would like to see how Sam performs on this offense before making that decision. What I can tell you is that I am confident our receivers would rather have a QB who can make all the throws so they're not reliant on getting YAC, which leads to injuries.

That makes my point even more. Those throws were to practice squad players. Imagine what he would do with Deebo, Kittle, CMC and Aiyuk. If Kyle can get the most out of him, we will have a QB who can go toe to toe with any QB in the NFL.

I'm not even sure what your point is.. you seem to insinuate Sam > Brock, but when put to the test of who you would start, you backed down. So even you seem to be of the mind that BP starts for now. What point are you making? That Sam is a more talented thrower of the football?

Another one of those, lol.
