You want to talk about Darnold beating out Lance but what if we bring back Josh Johnson and he beats out Darnold?

Why? He's the guy who sees ghosts on the field, has almost as many TD to INTs, sub 60% comp, 78 QB rating over 55 starts
there's absolutely nothing from him to say he's better. Nothing….just more proof on why he stinks and is a backup nothing more
Much more experience, which matters in the NFL. Pass stats good or bad don't mean s**t once you've stepped onto a new team.

Darnold isn't gonna beat out Trey because Darnold won't get a chance to.
By which you're implying that he's better than Trey.

I do respect the fact that you openly admit you hate TL, even if I disagree. Lot of people in here being labeled Jimmy stans, Jimmy hater, Trey stans, Trey hater, but when pressed deny it, so it's refreshing for someone to unapologetically admit their hate.
Hate. Lol, what was it when I told a poster he was being a hater…..I don't even know the guy to hate him. I've never said the word hate, but I openly have said I'm not a Trey Lance fan. Lemme know when you see me root against him? I actually complement how he played in the 49ers vs Bears game day thread. How's that for hate.
Around here not praising Lance constantly equates to rooting against him.

So, just sayin', we get a former 1st round pick on a dirt cheap flyer. I say, give him a chance. At worst, we have a training camp cut. At most, with Kyle, his scheme, and this coaching staff, this kid finds some aspects of his game which made him the 3rd overall pick in the first place, and we have a diamond in the rough. It doesn't make sense to me to complain over a signing at a position, that any diehard fan expected more from.
I know many have dreamed of a Lamar sighting, but we are honestly too stacked of a roster to do such a thing. Our window is wide open…which as a 41 year old fan, I can say hasn't always been the case since the 80s-90s. No need to prematurely close it with over-ambitious signings and short-sighted mistakes. Personally, I like this signing….low risk with high upside potential, IMHO.

He's stepped on multiple teams and sucked. Your bias is unreal right now.

No they hate him. He was taking the place of their boy Jimmy. They gave him 100 passing attempts but got no problem propping up a QB that's stunk for years and hasn't improved. 55 starts worth…but yeah let's talk about him being the starter.
Ya'll are too much sometimes

Oh, you replied to me months ago, saying you openly hated him before the draft. So are you telling me now that since the draft you've come to not hate him? Because it doesn't sound like it.

Not a large body of work last season, but he made huge strides compared to the rest of his career. Career bests in TD%, INT%, Y/A, QB rating, QBR, and sack rate. The couple of games I watched, he actually looked decent, and I thought to myself "if Kyle had him I bet he could make something out of him."
Let's be real here, it is VERY likely that Darnold starts a game(s) for the Niners next season, just based on the history of QB injuries under Kyle. Neither Trey nor Purdy are 100% right now, so I think this is a really good signing with nothing but upside.
