More regular season starts than either Lance or Purdy (though Brock played 1 more game than him overall). In other words, enough for any of us to have an opinion on his play.

You have to ask yourself who do you want to be driving the Ferrari?
Purdy is like a 74-year-old grandmother. Sure he'll drive it safely and get you to where you want to go most of the time, but the Ferrari may not go very far. Darnold is like a Formula 1 driver. Yes he'll be reckless and make mistakes at times, but he'll push every part of the Ferrari to its max.

So your opinion is that he was stellar in those 6 games?

I already gave my opinion - he showed great improvement over his previous play. Very few second-string QB's are going to be 'stellar' in any case.

He's definitely not a "second-string" type QB. He had one of the highest EPAs of all NFL QBs last year with a very bad team. He had the same EPA as Jimmy and Brock with weapons that are leagues below what we have with the 49ers.

Exactly. Sam is a special qb on this team. Wouldn't be surprised if he became the starter soon and win us a chip. Sam has never had a coach and team like ours.

Well he is *literally* a second-string QB, but I do agree that the potential upside is there. He has to show it though, and he'll likely get his opportunity.

This is a terrible analogy
