team and coaching clearly matter, but a massive part of being a good QB comes on the shoulders of the actual QB. Shocking I know.

Darnold had better advanced stats than Purdy and Jimmy last year on a horrible team. A franchise QB should be able to make every throw, which Darnold can do. Shanahan turned Jimmy, Schaub Ryan into a top 5 QBs. Why can't he do the same for Darnold?

Heck if Darnold could produce like what he did last year for Carolina, this team is guaranteed a Super Bowl.

You must be one of those people who think correlation is causation. What if Purdy was on Carolina last year? Would he put up the same numbers with the Panthers as he did with the 49ers? Don't think you think that having Kittle, Deebo, CMC, Jennings and Aiyuk and the #1 D who intercepted balls for him inflated his passing stats? Be truthful.

Only thing Darnold does better is his deep ball. Purdy is better in every other area and he was a rookie. Darnold is a solid backup though

Btw I live in Charlotte and have seen Darnold play live in person. Nobody here cared for him either, fans or local media.

GGG, but you're not watching Arnold's advanced stats !

Darnold had a lower INT rate, a higher ypa, higher yac, even EPA, and higher CPOE on a team whose weapons would be second and third string on our team.

He almost willed Carolina into the playoffs last year with his QB play. It would have been a miracle after they started with Baker and were already tanking after they traded McCaffrey.

Lol. Defense and run game almost got them in. That's like giving credit to Jimmy during some of our playoff wins where he would avg 10 completions.

During that 4-2 stretch he only had one game where had more than 20 completions.

In the win against the Saints he was 5-15 with 2 INTs. But I'm sure his EPOCAFGZ was off the charts bro!

Bruh, we know its you Sam and you are a decent QB but you are not a BP (yet)

Because Carolina was tanking. Why would you rely on 4 yard rush plays when Darnold was averaging 14 yard pass plays? It was obvious they were intent on better draft picks. Did you notice how they unleashed Darnold in the Tampa game when they had a chance to make the playoffs?

Darnold had only 10% fewer throws than Purdy in the regular season. If you removed the Saints game when the Saints played their third string, he had the best stats of all QBs including Mahomes during that stretch when he played.

So then how tf can you say how well he played but then you see the stats and say they were tanking? Which is it lmao. And lol at 23 completions "unleashed" dude you're pretty delusional. This was fun but I'm done now lol.

He's saying they were tanking by running the ball, but Darnold overcame that as well. Man was battling the other team and his own coaches apparently lol.

He threw 37 passes in that game compared to his usual ~23 passes. He had a 108.1 RAT and 9.22 ypa in that game, which is elite tier numbers against a top 10 defense.

You should ask yourself why Carolina gave him 14 more passes in a must-win game.

Sam did next to nothing and that s**t has been so overblown last yr. They won a game when he had a 2.8 QB rating.

overall Sam's stats have been some of the worst in the NFL for half a decade. 4 games doesn't magically change 50 other games. They ran the s**t out of the football in NC. They literally took the ball out of his hands as much as possible and overall asked him to make some easy reads. Who said he can make all the throws? There's plenty of examples of him missing at all levels of the field.

You act like Matt Ryan was awful before Kyle showed up, which simply isn't true. Schaub played in two games before kyle got him….so acting like he was a failure for half a decade like Sam is simply not true.

look I'm sure Sam's chances at playing his best football in his career here is good. That doesn't mean he's been a good QB all along. A LOT of is issues were because of him, not just everything around him.

Why you're trying to go to bat so hard for this dude is beyond me…you must be a USC fan or something. Even then he was pretty inaccurate and liked to turn the ball over.

He had a 2.8 rating in his last game with third stringers. He commandered a game-winning drive in that game with a 20 yard scramble that highlighted the win.

But let's say you remove the stats from that game, then his passing numbers would beat ALL NFL QBs in that stretch of the games he played. Read that twice.
Darnold thread is happening today folks

When people have to resort to, "if you don't count…" they've lost the argument.

He also said that Darnold averaged 14 yards per pass play.....which is his YPC, not YPA. Id have to imagine 14 YPA would be the highest in NFL history LOL.
