He's a better #3 than we had before the signing.

At the end of the day, Darnold has NFL size, arm strength, accuracy, pocket mobility, poise and field reading capability. His windup is an eyesore for sure, but he has the velocity to mitigate the additional release time. While Darnold has the mental toughness and talent to start tomorrow, early sideline seasoning could help him better process coverages in an attempt to eliminate future interceptions. Darnold has the tools to thrive in any system and doesn't have to have perfect protection to succeed. His floor is solid starter, but he has the ceiling to be one of the top tier quarterbacks in the game as he gains more experience.
Lol welp can't get every draft profile right…love the photo.
Tbf, his profile was pretty spot on. He definitely had a lot of great tools to work with. Being on the Jets did him no favors, and then again with Rhule.
He was a very good prospect coming out of college, one my favorite in the past 10 years.

nice.. i do believe he hasn't gotten a fair shake.. youngest QB to start an opener since the merger, then Gase got to town
then traded and paired with Rhule
where exactly was he supposed to have success again? Being on this team will be a NFL experience unlike any he has had so far, I bet he took a cheap 1 year with us cuz he sees the talent here and the coaching

I forgot how young Darnold is. Only 25. Maybe something can be salvaged working with Shanahan. He is looking like an emergency QB now, but if Purdy beats out Lance and entrenches himself as the starter, this could be Purdy's backup.

As long as he comes really cheap I'm ok with it. The hope is that he ever has to play a down.

I'm not saying this is going to happen, but I remember about 35 years ago, we traded for a quarterback, about the same age as Sam. The knock on him was he is gunshy and to antsy in the pocket. It seemed like everyone thought Bill Walsh was crazy. But that deal worked out alright as that QB was Steve Young. The point being even a Hall of Gamer can have his distracted when they play with a horrible team.

Ya I just wonder if he has too much PTSD to get fixed lol
But this was a very smart move by him to come here and learn how to be a better QB.
