Yeah don't see that happening lol

You could see he was nervous. With time I bet you he'd be as good if not a little better than jimmy g.

Yea but almost want to keep Rams outta the playoffs though

We're not keeping them out. Next 2 games are against the Saints and Giants, and if they win those they're in. It's more likely we have more to play for that game than they do.

Watch us both be resting players in that game.
Rewatched the 2 Darnold passes. The 1st one on a rollout, he put it on Kittle but was contested, I think if he lead Kittle it wouldn't have been contested. The 2nd pass was good, Kittle just plain dropped. Maybe Kittle got flashback of losing Brock the rest of the game in last year NFCCG just before he went up for Darnold's pass.

I think Darnold did ok, a bit too critical of him at the time. Losing Brock for a few plays got everyone freaked out lol

Kyle did not believe in resting starters heading to the playoff, especially if we already have a first ground bye. Maybe he changed his approach this year, but I doubt he does.

You can see just how different the ball comes out from each QB. Darnold rockets the ball in there out of fear of a DB stepping in. Purdy drops a lot of his passes into space to allow his playmakers to run onto it. Look at the pass to Kittle from Purdy after he comes back in. he drops it over the LBs and lets it drop over Kittle's shoulder. Receivers get used to the ball their QB throws.

I agree. Darnold's passes aren't bad. Can be adjusted to be better. But comparing to Brock, it's just a bit off. The timing, accuracy and catchability isn't the same as Brock.
Darnold threw those ugly passes on purpose to help Purdy's MVP case. Team Player.

Yeah, the timing, anticipation, and accuracy aren't the same as Brock. With more reps, timing and anticipation can be improved, but I don't know about accuracy. Brock's accuracy is *insanely* great. Historically, Sams Accuracy is good, but not at Brocks level.
Darnold is surprisingly bad for a guy that's been in the league for as long as he has. Purdy is either really, really, really good, or he just understands the offense and can see the field so much better.
I thought with the level of talent on offense, Darnold would be able to thrive in KS system, but even in just the few times we have seen him on the field he has been erratic.

Hopefully we never need him, but it would be nice to be able to rely on him if we did.

Damaged goods. If he had to play I think after 4-5 games he would be much improved in the offense which is why I think he would be a fine backup. Brock is an outlier brother, aka unicorn. Lets enjoy it while we can.

i'd still take him over jimmy g right now
Both Brandon Allen and Sam Darnold are on one-year contracts so my guess is that the 49ers will draft a mid-to-late round QB and sign only one of Darnold, Allen or a different veteran career backup.
