It'll be interesting. My understanding is he's off contract. He's a lil high end for a QB2. He may go to a club where he's more in line to see action. Lot of teams with suspect QB1s. SF is not one of them. Advantage of FA, is he can choose. Don't have to play for some dumpster org. Sign some place where he can have success.

He was very impressive, and I see why Shanahan was pleased over his performance. The grading of Sam was when Deebo and Aiyuk were on the field and the offense did not miss a beat. That's what the coaches wanted to see and that got what they wanted. If Purdy gets hurt, our team will still be able to put up points when Darnold comes in. He is not as good as Brock, but he is more than capable of keeping the ship above water and giving the team a chance at winning. We have to remember if Darnold comes in, he will not be throwing to the practice squad guys or have 2nd string O lineman blocking for him like it was most of that game. Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, CMC, and Jennings will be his targets to use. Trent Williams will be protecting his blind side and Juice will be doing his thing.

Agreed!!! Good post!!!

He is not as good as Brock but he is better than CJ, Mullens, Troy Lence, and Johnson

Extend him then!!
I thought he looked ok? Some ppl have a crazy high standard
Scheme hurts him badly with this offensive line...

There's not enough time or room for error with this offensive line.

I actually thought darnold did pretty well but there is so little margin for error those two mistakes basically cost him the game.

Brock is able to move through his reads faster than any QB I have seen which allows him to unlock a bunch of potential from the scheme with horrible blocking in front of him.

I really don't see any other QB being better than average with this line and scheme. The offensive line needs a huge upgrade...

ya he looked great and consistently moved the ball well with first-stringers and even looked good with our backups for the most part

people here think Wilks deserves to be fired too. I feel our fans (and in general) are so reactionary and they dont even look at stats/arent objective just Twitter or just feed each other through this site)

Tremendous leadership and LR presence!
that's right . Not lamar.

Not Mayfield.

Not even Josh Allen.

Yup, worth noting, that the highest pick QBs for SFs roster this year, are Darnold and Lance (to begin the campaign), both more highly selected than Mahomes, and much more than Brock. If one goes to the 2017 draft, Trubisky was QB1 of that class. QB is such a tough projection, cuz it's not just projecting athletic traits, you are projecting what kind of man someone will be, years down the line. What kind of leadership on the prax field. What kind of command in the huddle. What kind of pre and post snap awareness. A lot of face of the franchise responsibility as well, and media obligation. No easy job, and a projection that often at best, is a shot in the dark.
He wanted the Ring, and came here to get it.
