If Kyle and John are all in on Purdy and he's not ready to start the season, Darnold has a chance to beat Trey out as the seat warmer for Brock.

If they are still unsure then Trey will be handed the seat warmer spot, but If Trey doesn't improve this offseason Darnold could beat him out in a legit QB competition.

It's a little different than most 3rd string situations. With Brock's injury missing training camp And Trey stinking every time he plays. They will take a real look at him. Does he suck? I don't know but he will at least get the opportunity to show something this offseason.

I mean, that's usually the case when you get to QB #2, and especially true when you get to QB #3. Last year was not normal QB depth in the modern NFL. As QB #3 one could do a LOT worse than Darnold.

100 percent👍👍👍. Whatever criticism anyone has on Darnold doesn't matter because at the end of the day our QB3, possibly QB2 or QB1, has just been upgraded from Josh Johnson. Well done John and Kyle!

Thought the same thing with Purdy. Sam has the talent and has never had a HC like Kyle. Don't know how anyone couldn't be happy about this.

Only Trey fans are not happy. There's really no reason to be mad about this signing unless you feel threatened
