Don't see the point?

I just feel like if we get to the point where Darnold is going to have to be our starter, the season is over. Will see what the financials look like.

Thought the same thing with Purdy. Sam has the talent and has never had a HC like Kyle. Don't know how anyone couldn't be happy about this.

Yeah I figured someone would reply with Purdy. Clearly an outlier.

And I will be happy when I see we are paying him $1.5M with incentives. Nothing more than that.

Sam Darnold is lightyears better than Josh Johnson. One thing about Darnold is that he can swindle some fans into falling in love with him. He makes some of the craziest wow, elite-level throws that few QBs can make and then follow up with bad plays like throwing boneheaded INTs or completely missing wide open receivers.

Could be a Alex and J.T O'Sullivan situation again with Trey and Darnold.

You need atleast 3 QB's heading into camp and Purdy will be rehabbing most of the offseason.

Not a bad signing. Don't get it from Darnold's point though. Why sign on day one for a 3rd string job. have no hope of getting a backup job? Or did we just pay so much he doesn't care?

It's a little different than most 3rd string situations. With Brock's injury missing training camp And Trey stinking every time he plays. They will take a real look at him. Does he suck? I don't know but he will at least get the opportunity to show something this offseason.

I feel like they wanted him two years ago.

So like Jimmy G but with more arm?

SWH he's a #3 overall pick in crap environments where QBs go to die.. QB here is simple stuff by comparison.. you really can't see a 25 year old QB on bad teams having a new lease on life here?

One does wonder if he's salvageable.

Could've sworn there was a rumor that 49ers inquired about trading for Darnold when he was a Jet.

What about when JJ had to enter the NFC championship game? Have to be prepared with our glass room QBs

. . . with our glass room QBs or subpar offensive line.

Understood. I have never been opposed to bringing in another QB. I was just opposed to bringing in a QB that is going to cost as much as most QB2s do.
