sam has to unlearn years of bad habits. He's got to fix his s**t footwork and at this point his throwing motion is what it is. I expect him to just look better due to scheme and roster. That's not gonna make him a better overall QB though. He's not gonna magically not do s**t like this just because he's here

The one QB trait that actually can't be improved all that much is pocket presence. If you see ghosts you tend to see em no matter the scheme.

smh

Not as ridiculous as trying to push a couple games on everyone…you're a used car salesman and no one is buying your trash takes on him.

And I can't pull up YEARS of s**t play bud. That's year 5 play from him still doing a bunch of dumb s**t.

you know who bought in on Sam, we did
Kyle did
the 49ers did

come on man, he can help us, even being out there and setting a comp that TL has to clear, will just help us make TL better

s**t was happening since college. I was a fan of Sam and actually though NY should have taken him over Barkley (I really like Allen do to the upside) and I like Rosen due to the in the pocket play, arm and mechanics.

Sam just isn't good in the pocket. He's got to be moved out of the pocket and given easy reads. That's how he's gonna be used here imo. His footwork makes me cringe though. It's much worse than Lance's ever was and we're heading into season 6 for him

Yeah as a 3rd string/backup QB. Quit acting like he's something he has never shown he can be. This isn't a he's got limited reps and just needs to be developed situation. He's played a ton of football at multiple places with multiple coaches and mostly stunk.

you want to hope that just say that…because that's all it is. Acting like he's something he hasn't ever been is disingenuous and being a homer.

lol.. so you disregard the quotes of Gore, Steve Young, Baldy, Rapsheet, Carr, Jack Hammer, Palmer, Louis Riddick, among many others?

Definitely right, it isn't... although positive development would be a welcome surprise.

He's a talented guy with experience who could be a solid option to turn to as a spot player. He provides an additional chance at having competent play at the position should Purdy's recovery be delayed and Lance hasn't improved enough to be relied on short term. He's shown that he can play well in spurts, which is all we are planning to need him for at worst.

Like almost every other team looking to win a championship throughout NFL history, we're likely in big trouble if we have to depend on any QB other than our starter for lengthy portions of the season. Last year's 49ers were an exception, but it's not unreasonable to argue that our depth chart was upside down at the start of the season especially in terms of short term potential.

What people that know him like him lol? What team signs someone then talks poorly about him? Please tell me who? Guys said the same s**t about Jimmy.

Rap said he made up that s**t and it's his opinion. Young talked up Lance all the same. Jack hammer? Seriously lol. Who gives a f**k what Carr says…he thinks his brother is the best QB in the league and Plamer coaches Sam. Talk about a bunch of bias comments from people…most of which aren't even in this build.

Stop trying so hard just because he's a 49er. You're a known homer in here and are really showing your colors. I have no idea why I keep discussing this with you

All our QBs are a question mark. We don't have any proven guys and the one who might be the starter is dealing with a massive injury.

anyone of us would welcome a positive development from Sam. I'm not gonna run around making up stuff like faithful just because he's now a 49er. You'd think he'd have a little more support for a guy the team actually drafted to be the guy (just hasn't played) vs a random signing of a guy that's been bad for years.

I also think there's a difference between proving enough because of lack of play vs proven bad play for the past 5 years.

I'll root for whomever plays. I won't be shocked if they all play at some pt. I'm not gonna let my judgement get clouded because of the jersey he wears.

who cares what Carr thinks? really? Dude played in the NFL, he was a #1 overall pick, he wore our uniform, he played the position
you think he has some Darnold bias? sure he has brother bias, Sam isn't his brother.

Why would Steve have any Darnold bias? He's a 49er, he has 49er bias, he doesn't prefer Sam to any of our guys, yet he recognizes the opportunity here for Sam to rebuild his career.

You think any NYJ guys are going around putting their name on Zach Wilson and saying Wilson is a guy? Why do you think Gore is with Darnold? Cuz unlike Zach, Sam has a good attitude to go with his talent.

As for Baldy, I know you dig the game of football, his breakdowns are awesome, you must watch them.

Riddick was a personnel guy in the league and he has guys currently in the league high up as his contacts, Rap is also in the know, same with Hammer.

this isn't just a round out the roster with depth type move, in my opinion, or in any of these guys opinion, they are all on the record saying he can potentially be a QB1 here

I don't disagree, but one of the three has something in their portfolio that demonstrates that this team could win a Super Bowl this season with him as the starting QB, while the other two do not. And if he doesn't fully recover, or his play regresses, that doesn't make either of the other two guys good options for the bulk of a season... and I don't think the team is planning around them that way. Arguing about who is the better option to develop long term between the two backups is pointless at this juncture considering it's pretty obvious we're not planning to do that. We're just trying to put the team in the best position possible to be ready for the guy we are planning around. We could go off in a completely different direction next season if that doesn't work out... and we probably should considering our SB window more than likely isn't lasting much longer.

lol making up stuff, get real

what is being made up exactly, we have a difference of opinion, yet there are many ppl with tons of NFL experience who share mine, none of that is made up
let if be a difference of opinion, if that is the case, no need to invent that I am making anything up
TL has struggled here two years with his play and injury
and I was very bullish last season, which you seemingly have noticed ,,, I am dialing back expectations for year 3 of TL, if he can be a healthy, functional QB who puts the ball where he wants consistently, I will be feeling better there

Yup making stuff up because you're are homer. You did it with Jimmy for years. Now you're doing it with Sam. Sorry bud I don't value your stance on this stuff. Go debate with someone else

You can't even name what is being made up lol.. I've put quotes in here of ppl, like Steve Young today, Louis Riddick yesterday, where does the made up part come in, I am having trouble with that one.
