Da Bears sign OT Matt Pryor

It sounds like he played very poorly last season and was replaced at LT, RT, and RG. The Colts as a whole were terrible though so I guess it's hard to judge him. Colts' fans however do not think he's good from what I'm reading.

It's fine though, he's a swing tackle and has experience at G as well so he's probably going to be an emergency backup at multiple spots for us and that's it.

49ers OL is like the LA Dodgers. Really solid, even top 10 unit in-season and big flop of disappointment in the post season.

But to your point, definitely a lot less worry this year but is it good enough? Almost there. Don't stop now.

Yeah, the trophy will return soon, but disappointing is the last thing I'd call this team. We win in the playoffs. Imagine being Dallas fan, or even Green Bay. Those are the guys that come to mind when I think about disappointment. The only thing those dudes have goin for them is that even when they lose to the 49ers in the playoffs, they can still say "at least I'm not a Lions fan."

am I the only one who thinks Burford may be in play for RT? Let this big ugly Pryor fight it out with Moore and whoever else at RG and move the talented Burford out to RT. Burford is a little short but he has the armlength and wingspan.

There's several of us who think he should be tried out at RT too and Feliciano, Poe and others should compete at RG. But Foerster seems to have a profile do its unlikely. He thought Brunskill was exclusively a G and we all probably feel he was best at T. So who knows.

Haha. I was just talking about the bipolar OL. Yeah, this team is far from disappointing and it's never boring. We're always knocking on that door!

I thought Burford was a RT coming out of the draft. Overall I think it's best to keep him at one spot while he develops.

sounds like they're high on Colton, I do expect them to draft a OT "early" this yr. Maybe a possible move up?

If that's the right thing to do, I'm all for it. Just get the talent. And then let the chips fall where they may.

I thought the same about Burford too. I'd hate to move him too but if he was the original 'real' long term plan, go for it. That is his natural spot.

Watching the live version, I really didn't get that impression from Lynch about Colton but that's neither here nor there as there's going to be competition for sure.

Where's your OL draft thread? Do you have any hopefuls?
SOLID PICKUP... not only that he's young, the future still a head of him.. aside the DBs, I still believe that OL was the most glaring need..

by "several of us" are you putting yourself in that group? Feliciano will be interesting to see there. I just think from a movement skill standpoint they have to look at Burford there. Maybe I am selling Colton short - esp after Lynch's comments yesterday. But it is lying season. So like you said who knows? I am pleased that we have bodies. Lots of them now including 4 clear starters. I still have my eye on Bergeron but think that will require a trade up.

Yes, me too. Former TE's typically have that athletic profile for T much better than G. Foerster thought otherwise. I would have really liked to see him in a legit competition with MM a couple years ago. Who knows where we'd be. Would he have become the starter instead of losing him and having to pivot to Colton? A guy the FO already cut?

Lynch on Colton. "Yeah, Colton is the, uh, guy, right now. We just signed Matt Pryor. Good swing-T. There will be a competition."

You don't sign "the guy" for a $1.8M cap hit. Expect a legit draft choice to challenge him along with Pryor and others. But it's his team veteran job to start. Let's see how it goes.

Something tell me you don't understand how the realities of building a roster in the NFL works lol

I wonder about that, specifically with Brunskill. I remember Foerster's body type comment about why Brunskill was a guard, but the only thing that makes sense is a best 5 scenario. Brunskill at RG was better than any RG we have had under Kyle. Hopefully we get the best option at RT and RG for the year.
