He's been one of our top DBs since OTA's. With the way Lenoir has been impressing people at camp to secure the CB2 spot, I knew Jamison was mostly going to compete with Oliver, Womack, and Thomas for playing time at nickel. This team doesn't care about your draft position or how much you make, you need to go out there and win your starting position, so Oliver isn't guaranteed anything just because he was a FA signing. May the best player win the job. Should be a damn good competition.

Kind of perfect. Backs up Oliver and keeps learning and becomes the primary returner (ideally).

If he keeps playing this well he might send Oliver to the bench, and that's not even a knock on Oliver, but more about Jamison standing out. This UDFA is going to force his way onto the field. This might be another Moseley type of steal.
This 2nd pre-season game will tell more of a story.

If Oliver repeats his game 1 performance Jamison will step right in.

We have plenty of options, Oliver, Lenoir, Parker. I doubt we will see an undrafted rookie playing nickel. Nickel is a tough position to transitioned in the NFL.

I think Jamison makes the team but will be more likely to have a real shot at that spot next year.

Parker graded out the best in game one. He was a starter for Detroit not long ago. He deserves a shot.

It's hard to figure out who gets the job with nearly half a dozen guys thrown into the mix but I definitely don't trust Oliver.

If I had to guess, they want Lenoir inside and are looking to see who can function the best outside in nickel packages. I'd really prefer not to shake up what was working last year unless it's truly better. We were 11th in yards per attempt.

By week one I don't think we should be experimenting anymore.

For now, I kind of like Lenoir and Ward outside with Parker inside in this scheme.

I agree, don't mess with what's working well. It's much better to have 2 good outside cbs and a ncb like Oliver or Womack or Parker that plays well but not great than to change multiple positions.

Shanahan stated he also doesn't like creating new positions if he doesn't have to (remember when he didn't want to shuffle the OL for that very reason?)

I don't know about that. We have a new DC. I know we tried to not completely change the scheme, but Wilks will definitely add his wrinkles to the schemes. So I am fine for him to explore different options.

After all, it is not like Lenoir was playing at that high of a level last season. He was a young player stepping in mid season, and had his ups and downs. I like Lenoir and hope he improves further, but for now I am not at a point in which I would say he is the starting outside corner no questions asked.
Damn

How's that possible when he's on the Panthers? And Manning is a Cardinal.

The post you've replied to was obviously made yesterday, before the waiver claims were processed

Not really surprised. At 5'9" 185, he was way undersized at CB. His only chance was as a returner but Ronnie Bell made him expendable.
