No, nor should they for a multitude of reasons. In this particular game though, there were still 23 seconds on the clock so the game wasn't over for starters. On top of that, the official announced #70 as eligible, not #68 so Dallas does not account for #68. If the officials announce #68 as eligible then Dallas defense will obviously account for him (not saying Detroit wouldn't score anyway, just pointing out the play would change). You cannot and should not retroactively change scores.
Really, I have a very low estimation of the standard of officiating in the NFL but Detroit are just absolute buffoons here. For starters, they send two lineman, Decker and Sewell to the official and have a third, Skipper, sprinting toward him as well and Decker is behind Sewell when he says (according to him) "report". To me it's not clear who is reporting but if that wasn't enough, while Detroit is still in the huddle the ref announces "#70 is eligible, #70 is eligible" two times and not a single person, player or coach corrects the official that it was #68 who was reporting as eligible. It beggars belief how stupid Detroit is here. Then they follow it up by going for 2 again, 7 yards out. Absolute clown show by them.
