PFF had him at 76.9 last year, 78.6 in 2021, and 80.5 the year before. All three of those are solid green for them, which means high quality.

Is this the final year of his contract? I know he has no more guaranteed money owed to him.
He has 3 more years left after 2023, $14M cap hits each year, doubt he sees that in 2024, likely a restructure candidate.
Also, why did we have to cut Kerry Hyder?! Much rather see Zakelj go or at least be sent down to the P Squad. If we lose Zakelj there, oh well

Fred Dean was traded to the 49ers mid-season in 1981…. during Cowboys week…
I love it when you drop that sexy ass knowledge
Except Dean was an elite pass rusher in his prime. San Diego's defense collapsed after he was traded and Coryell regretted the trade for years. It'd be like the Steelers trading TJ Watt nowadays.
Gregory is a flyer that has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries and off the field issues. If he can be a solid rotational piece, he's well worth the price but he's not anywhere near an All Pro like Dean was.

No, he is signed through 2026, owed approx $16.5M a year. He has 0 guaranteed left though.
sl we can use him this year, paying him $840k and cut him with no issues or cost. We essentially got him for moving down a few spots in the 6-7th round and $840k
excellent trade. 0 risk and ridiculous potential

Wish he was playing this weekend
Yeah I'm curious why they're doing this. It isn't like he wouldn't help with a few rushes here and there. Do we have time cut hyder before the game or will he be able to play this weekend?

Have they said he wasn't playing ?

If he is slightly slower than Brock, he is still elite in the 10 yard split for an edge rusher.

Yes, but Fred Dean was an elite All-Pro who was holding out on the Chargers for a bump in pay. I am admittedly not too familiar with Gregory, but I am comfortable saying he is not of the stature of Dean when we pulled off that trade with the Chargers. On the other hand, our defensive line now is already so stacked that a marginal upgrade given an opportunity to play with a top defense might really shine.

In those highlights he looks fast, strong and has a plan to get to the QB. Granted that was also 2 or 3 years ago.

Same, nothing GTD past 2023, likely gets restructured in 2024 to help the cap, plus only cost us a 6th, but we get their 7th which right now would be like 10-15 picks lower than our 6th.
