PFF had him at 76.9 last year, 78.6 in 2021, and 80.5 the year before. All three of those are solid green for them, which means high quality.
You're welcome btw since I called this

(assuming it works out; if it doesn't work out I clearly had nothing to do with it)

He has 3 more years left after 2023, $14M cap hits each year, doubt he sees that in 2024, likely a restructure candidate.
Cool. Was wondering if this could be more than just a 1 year rental if this is a match made in Heaven. Talent certainly is there. No doubt he'll have to restructure at $14M a year moving forward.

Also, why did we have to cut Kerry Hyder?! Much rather see Zakelj go or at least be sent down to the P Squad. If we lose Zakelj there, oh well

Hyder probably ends up on the PS tomorrow, and if Gregory isn't active Sunday night, Hyder will be IMO, elevated I mean to be active SNF.

Fred Dean was traded to the 49ers mid-season in 1981…. during Cowboys week…

I love it when you drop that sexy ass knowledge

Except Dean was an elite pass rusher in his prime. San Diego's defense collapsed after he was traded and Coryell regretted the trade for years. It'd be like the Steelers trading TJ Watt nowadays.

Gregory is a flyer that has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries and off the field issues. If he can be a solid rotational piece, he's well worth the price but he's not anywhere near an All Pro like Dean was.

I'd liken it more to when they brought in Burt

Same, nothing GTD past 2023, likely gets restructured in 2024 to help the cap, plus only cost us a 6th, but we get their 7th which right now would be like 10-15 picks lower than our 6th.

eh nope

Kinlaw's played good thus far this season, Hyder wasn't really producing, neither is Ferrell, wouldn't shock me if they end up swapping out Ferrell for Hyder later on, or Hyder stays on the PSquad for the remainder of the season.

No, he is signed through 2026, owed approx $16.5M a year. He has 0 guaranteed left though.

sl we can use him this year, paying him $840k and cut him with no issues or cost. We essentially got him for moving down a few spots in the 6-7th round and $840k

excellent trade. 0 risk and ridiculous potential

He has $14M cap hits for us in 2024-2026, nothing guaranteed.

Yeah I'm curious why they're doing this. It isn't like he wouldn't help with a few rushes here and there. Do we have time cut hyder before the game or will he be able to play this weekend?

Have they said he wasn't playing ?

He came today for the physical. Heading back tomorrow to gather his things and family stuff. Will be back on Monday. This is what Kyle said.

FORGET all the prior years.. I believe that he's going to find his happiness here as long as he is being used as a PASS RUSHER..

This D line can now use the SPEED FOUR that the Giants onced used against Brady in that Super Bowl upset where all 4 DEs were lined up.

our version will be:

WEED - HARV - DRAKE - BOSA

... and that's ONE DARN PASS RUSHERS !!!
I keep seeing he's "elite" on the WZ. I'm not saying I like or hate this pickup. But elite at what exactly? His highest sack total is 6 in a season. He never did more than that. Elite at what exactly? How do you quantify that?

I've read that he is going home to pack and be with his family and then will report on Monday.

You on drugs, dude? I just word searched the entire thread for the word elite. It's only used for Fred Dean and comparing his 10-yard split to Brock Purdy.

Originally posted by libertyforever:
If he is slightly slower than Brock, he is still elite in the 10 yard split for an edge rusher.

Yes, but Fred Dean was an elite All-Pro who was holding out on the Chargers for a bump in pay. I am admittedly not too familiar with Gregory, but I am comfortable saying he is not of the stature of Dean when we pulled off that trade with the Chargers. On the other hand, our defensive line now is already so stacked that a marginal upgrade given an opportunity to play with a top defense might really shine.

I'm not one saying he is elite by any means. I did notice though in his Cowboy highlights that he was generating the pressures a lot of the times before Micah was. In those highlights he looks fast, strong and has a plan to get to the QB. Granted that was also 2 or 3 years ago.

Agreed! Low Risk, SUPER HIGH reward especially with our Loaded Dline.
