Love it from a talent perspective, but not thrilled about the contract part . Oh well they know what they are doing

I think his guaranteed money is over - so we can cut him next year with no problem. Essentially a 1 year rental to bolster our pass rush

People should've seen all the room for 1-year rentals with our cap space b4 these new moves. I mean c'mon guys....it's probably not the last one either.
He kinda has that crazy, beastmode look to him..can't say I dislike that:)

I keep seeing he's "elite" on the WZ. I'm not saying I like or hate this pickup. But elite at what exactly? His highest sack total is 6 in a season. He never did more than that. Elite at what exactly? How do you quantify that?

I dont like problem children.... but i guess we have to believe in second chances.....

The only thing I think good/great is his first step... I dont know that I would say elite....but he is adding something we do not currently have.

Gregory's upfield burst will effect the screen game to one side of the field, and he can dictate the tackle's drop depth on his side. We don't have anyone else that can do that as well as he can.

I think the 49ers realize they need another Dee Ford to really unlock the full potential of this defense.

You on drugs, dude? I just word searched the entire thread for the word elite. It's only used for Fred Dean and comparing his 10-yard split to Brock Purdy.

If he is slightly slower than Brock, he is still elite in the 10 yard split for an edge rusher.

Yes, but Fred Dean was an elite All-Pro who was holding out on the Chargers for a bump in pay. I am admittedly not too familiar with Gregory, but I am comfortable saying he is not of the stature of Dean when we pulled off that trade with the Chargers. On the other hand, our defensive line now is already so stacked that a marginal upgrade given an opportunity to play with a top defense might really shine.

lol, SD.

SD, it's about the number of pressures he's generated. I was a little concerned at first after seeing the low sack totals but after more review saw he got a lot of pressures.

Hopefully he can play with the speed and power he showed in Dallas.

If he can give speed and pressures that is fine. I don't know when he's going to play though. He has a lot of guys ahead of him.

Maybe it will work out. We will see.

He actually has nobody ahead of him if his role is a moneydown edge rusher. He's taking all of Drake Jackson's snaps very soon.

We do rotate DL, so Drake will still have a bunch of snaps. But yes, Gregory may not have anyone ahead of him on passing downs.

Hopefully it will light a fire under Drake. He's talented too, and still developing.
I hope they can get him motivated. He's had 2 years with 6 sacks and very little outsode of that. He's got 3 sacks in the last 2 seasons. Let's make sure he doesn't get a hold of the Cali weed
He'll take some of Drake's snaps. And all of Hyders reps

Jackson and Ferrell are ahead of him right now until proven otherwise.
I'll definitely take it but seems like we need help in other areas such as CB. I don't think pass rush is the issue with this defense. Oh well. It's hard to really hate getting more pressure upfront.

The production isn't quite as great as these guys are claiming. He's an athlete sure. But he has always been that while underwhelming his whole career. As far as sack totals.
