Hopefully Gregory has matured by now because I feel he could be that perfect complimentary bookend we've been looking for to pair with Bosa. Drake or Clelin can play the base downs and Gregory can come in fresh and wreak havoc on 3rd downs. Best pass rusher we have had opposite Bosa since a healthy Dee Ford! Beautiful trade Lynch!

Woah didn't see that coming, he is an excellent edge rusher that fits our scheme perfectly but his history is pretty bad.

Excellent trade. Basically lost only a few spots in the last round based on how bad Denver will be this season.

I dont like problem children.... but i guess we have to believe in second chances.....
The only thing I think good/great is his first step... I dont know that I would say elite....but he is adding something we do not currently have.
Gregory's upfield burst will effect the screen game to one side of the field, and he can dictate the tackle's drop depth on his side. We don't have anyone else that can do that as well as he can.
I think the 49ers realize they need another Dee Ford to really unlock the full potential of this defense.
you think? It's been an issue since first six weeks of 2019. Gregory not the answer, but if he stays in the rotation this season and gives us a handful of sacks it will be a good move. Hyder I am sure staying on the PS will mean he stays fresh and can provide quality snaps when people get dinged. Think there's more risk of downside than upside with Gregory, but we have committed so little, this is fine. Let it ride.Kudos to management for making a move.

I'm seeing only older highlights from 20 and 21, excuse my naivety but was he hurt last year?

lol Jackson and Ferrell are also the reasons he was traded for to begin with
What makes you think he can beat out Jackson? Based on what? His highest sack total ever is 6 in a season. Drake Jackson will probably have more than that this year if you just keep playing him.
Drake Jackson has 3 sacks after 4 games. Making him on pace for 12 - 13 sacks. Something Gregory has never done in his life. Check again. LOL.
Jackson can beat the Gregory all time best total in 1/2 season.
You act like having two guys about that good is worse than one.

Broncos radio stations out here complained about his lack of intensity and effort this season. Hopefully he doesn't become a headache for us

I'm not saying he's Randy Moss, but he used to half ass it when on a losing team too.

So serious cap question...AB!!!...but how does this held Denver at all? If they are paying the vast majority of his salary this year, and apparently there was no more guaranteed money - it seems to me that finaancially they would have been better off cutting him. This isn't like the Goff trade where they was basically payment for draft capital - because I can't see it being worth like 9.5 million to move up 5-6 spots in the 6th round.
The 49ers likely called & said they'd swap picks since they were cutting him anyway, I'm shocked it was just a pick swap late round & no early picks TBH
So financially it makes no difference for them to cut vs. trade? I thought there was something along the lines of, if a player is cut and signs somewhere else - then the cutting team didn't take the cap hit.
it has to do with offset language in these contracts. Usually that is right but a team would just sign him for the vet min since it makes no difference to gregory - he makes the same amount.
If teams bid for his service, the amount they pay him would just be off set by what the broncos owed him. Just For example, I'll use simple numbers - Broncos owe him 10 million, so whatever a team pays him they are just subtracting that from what the broncos owe him. Team A signs him for $5M. Broncos and team A just pay him $5M apiece. He still gets the same amount of $10M. Only one being helped by another team paying more is the broncos. Gregory gets the same amount of money.
There is usually offset language in a contract. Kyle actually had it deleted from his first 6 year contract with Jed. If he was fired by jed before the first 6 years were over, Kyle could of double dipped and got paid by another team while jed stil owes him the same amount. That's rare and showed Kyle his commitment, especially since the last 3 years had 3 different head coaches. Lol
