I'm not saying he's Randy Moss, but he used to half ass it when on a losing team too.

Sounds like him and Sean Payton (maybe Vance Joseph) just didn't get along. He's been there for a little over a season and has had 3 head coaches. Lol
nathanial Hackett, Jerry Roseburg, and then Sean Payton. That kind of instability and losing a lot can deter a player. I'm not saying he's acting right but a terrible work environment and poor work product does suck for anyone.

Bro lost a s**t ton of money (potential) over the course of a season and a couple games. Playing on a winning team (being healthy), with the GOAT DL coach and DPOY will change things….also the fact that he's not gtd any cash after this yr will make a man player "a little" harder lol

End of the day if he blows…we're out a swap pick and the vet min. He plays lights out you can restructure his deal and they have two young premier edge rushers for years. He's got no gtd cash after this season, they can give him some gtd cash and still insulate themselves if he stinks after the fact.

Yeah, I think the fact he has nothing guaranteed going forward should be a big motivating factor for him. Especially if he realizes he is nearing the age where he probably doesn't have the chance for many big pay days left. I hope he balls out here, like you said - he has a great DL coach and talent around him.

could be one of those situations where the right environment around him really helps him blossom. Would be great. Then we can just restructure his contract to give him a little guaranteed money next year with some incentives.

i hope it works out. Get to see a talented player ina tough spot rejuvenate himself and the 49ers benefit from a very talented player.
The Niners don't even lose a whole lot with the pick swap. The 6th round 49er pick will be somewhere near the end of the round. Probably between 28th and 32nd. The Broncos 7th rounder will be somewhere in the top 10 of the round. Maybe top 5. In the end it's practically the same.

Pretty much that whole team on defense has been like that. The team morale is shot. A lot of guys want out of Denver. We gave up almost no resources to get him. It was a no brainer. Either he makes us better and we go back to top 1-3, or he doesn't and we stay at our current top 5-7 level.

I think with the leaders on defense and team overall will help him and keep him in line. Give him 15-20 plays a game and let him raise hell.
Bang Bang ❗️
is this beesh gonna suit up and play tomorrow night? how hard could it be to edge rush the QB on passing downs...

When he has played, he's been really effective as a pass rusher - outside of this year. He's a great athlete and plays with violence. I wonder if the niners had intel on where he was going to go if released - could be a situation where not only we get better but stop a main competitor from getting better at the d line.

gregory seems to have a lot of explosion and awesome at stunts.

I don't believe so. Which i find a little odd but is what it is.

jusr weird that we have to make the roster move today but he won't play this weekend. So I imagine if we cut hyder, we can resign him and elevate him from the practice squad. Unless someone snatches him up

Nailed it!
Broncos defense had 70 dropped on them. Pretty safe assumption that unit as a whole was half-assing it.

Would you rather have Gregory for $1M or Yannick Ngakoue for $10M? Ngakoue has 2 sacks in 4 games already.

Isn't there a clause in every Ngakoue contract where you have to trade him?

Some times it is about sacks, no doubt....can you beat your man and impact the play.... but often it is about the defensive line effecting the offensive line. Passrush is a team goal.

Gregory can move his guy...quickly...that alone regardless of actual sacks has some value. Bottom line we are likely to have more defensive linemen deeper upfield with him. That means more chaos and traffic around the opposing QB.

I personally never would have picked up Gregory, I am not a fan of knuckle heads...but the dude does have a legit first step combined with a pass rushers personality. If the dude screws around here, he is gone at little to no cost....so it is not like there is a real downside.

As others have pointed out, maybe it helps push Drake Jackson too....
