I don't think you can count of picking up a talent like Chase in the trade deadline. This is an exception rather than the norm. Same as the CMC trade. It happened but no way you can count on having that opportunity in the future.
The exception was because his long-term health is very questionable. I guess people already forgot that Niners are paying Dee Ford a lot of money this year still ?
No one knows the future but Dee Ford's scenario is not even close to Youngs

It's not. But when it comes to priority, the 49ers do like to reward the players they've drafted and value as cornerstones to the franchise (Kittle, Warner, Bosa, etc.)
I think Aiyuk's ascension, and relatively clean injury history make him our priority in contract extensions, vs. a (very talented) guy we just added who has had a torn ACL in his career.

Are you making a conclusion that TW and CMC are not value as cornerstones to the franchise?

BA is super valuable to the offense (his catching/blocking ability is top notch) and Young is a core piece of our d line. You can tell just by how many snaps he's getting. Dude is a savage and a difference maker

no way they focus on one over another. All offers would be worked on the same time. With Chase still getting back to form and the winning culture in play, i hope he wants to sign and not for record breaking money.

Right now the cap is not an issue. in 2026 is where it gets dicey

Never know what a player will want. Maybe he does want to take a discount, or a shorter term contract to play on a contending team and pair with his college buddy, Nick Bosa.

But I'm expecting that he'll be a high priority free agent that can cash in on a 4, 5 year deal where someone overpays.

It'd be nice if he does try to stick around on a modest 3 year deal. IIRC, Mooney Ward's 3 year, $40M contract felt pretty short-term and modest, compared to five year, $82M mega deal.

more valuable than the undefeated trio (Deebo, CMC, TW)

I feel like you're twisting my post. Merely pointing out that we have a track record of valuing and rewarding the guys we drafted. Not to say that if we acquired a guy in free agency or trade, that he can't be a guy we reward with a big contract either. Trent Williams was a guy we extended, but I will say that he and TW and CMC are very different situations though from Chase Young.
--- Trent Williams was already a perennial All-Pro Tackle that Shanahan has coached before, and Joe Staley was retiring. And we DID end up extending him to a monstrous deal that should presumably keep him here until he retires. He's proven himself to be a locker room leader.
--- CMC also a very known commodity and a top 3 RB in the league. We were willing to take on his contract. And off the field, he seems to be an outstanding presence in the locker room due to his professionalism.

Meanwhile, Chase Young is a very talented individual, but his season high for sacks if 7.5 (rookie year), and tore his ACL in 2021. He's playing at a high level this season, but I don't think I'd commit to giving him a big 5 year contract, like I would with, say Aiyuk.

But anyway... If we can afford both of them, I'd love to have both of them.
We got really lucky in getting Young. It's very rare to get that opportunity of getting a lottery pick and someone who was presumably called a generational talent. And Bosa also needs someone like Young occupying the other end. If you consider the value of a pass rusher is up there with the quarterback, I think the 49ers will find a way to extend Chase Young.

Postgame he met up with his family who were there. It was good to see Chase happy.

Thank you for your clarification. In summary, each players and situations are unique.
Another solid game from him. Was happy to see him get a sack today, he has been a solid contributor, dude is always hustling.

Keep it going!!!
very impressed on how fast his first step is.
He played great today. Good game.
Looked like a good game, but PFFseems to hate him.

Gregory was playing some nickel DT vs SEA. Perhaps had to do with AA being out. Then again the entire DL was lined up all over the place vs SEA. There was one play Gregory was a DT then dropped into coverage.
If we can't keep Chase then I expect we'll keep Gregory.

I noticed that too. Him and Aaron Banks PFF do not think very highly of at all.
