What if on defense you do the same type of push where you push the defenders up front into the line?

Of course teams should do that. I'm shocked they have not been doing that. At least try that. Make a pile up push from the other side. Counter it.

It is. The ball and QB is buried under the pile and it's hard to tell where the ball is until you uncover everyone and by then it surely has moved forward quite a bit.

Honestly the problem that I have with it is, defenders aren't allowed to use leverage from other players but the offense can?? Also we can't fully tell at any point after the hike if Hurts is driving with his knee on the ground, it seemed like it a couple times.

They should be able to use leverage if the offense can. That's absolutely ridiculous. Both can if one can. Otherwise it's wildly unfair.

They can use leverage, you see scrum plays from time to time in football, this is where the ballcarrier is in the process of being tackled and refusing to go to ground. So both sides will push. I've seen that quite a few times, and never any foul for pushing the pile, on either side.

Well that's what they should do. Instead of a traditional defensive line. Use leverage.

What needs to be done is a LB or safety go in head first, helmet to helmet on Jalen. You will never see that play again after that.

Helmet to helmet contact #53 15 yard penalty. f**k!!!
We're going to see it a few times on Sunday. Would love to see someone actually stop it for once.
I am worried that if we try a certain way to defeat it, it will put our own players in Harms way with Injuries.

The whole play should be outlawed before we get to the point where they only outlaw it after some major injuries happen.

I'll take that 15 yards to see Jalen on the sidelines, Karma!

The Jets stopped it I think it twice. On one of them they caused Hurts to fumble.
We are all overthinking this, the sure way to stop it is to keep them in 3rd and long situations and we'll never see it.
I just don't think a player should be allowed to push a teammate forward for extra yards. And not just the Philly tush push. That goes for any play. How many times do we see a receiver catch a ball and then when being tackled we see his teammates come over and start shoving him for extra yards. That shouldn't be allowed either. Because if that's allowed then the defensive players should be able to pull ball carriers backwards.

That's actually more fair than a line of scrimmage Tush Push play. I'm ok with that play.

It's the same thing basically. Can't pick when it's okay to forward push. Agree with JTB.

Wasn't that illegal in college??

It's not the same. The play is already down the field on a pass. Starting at the line of scrimmage on short yardage and having tons of guys in the backfield is deeply unfair pre snap. Before anything actually happened yet. You absolutely should be able to push a WR further ahead when the defense is trying to tackle them. That's fair.
Is Hurts a top 10 QB if this play get outlawed?

He might drop. It's one of the things he does to stay on the field, extend drives and never punt. It's an unfair advantage.

Definitely drops. Think of it this way, currently they only need to get 7 yards, as they are almost guaranteed to get the 1st down on 3 and 7 on 2 downs. Also would change the eagles play design drastically, as blowing a pass play on 1st down would be more critical. You saw how bad they looked when hurts was forced to pass.
