I think it's interesting how Chase Young was Drafted in 2020, that same draft we traded for Trent Williams from Washington and Staley retired.

Now Trent Williams & Chase Young are on the same team.

Had Washington not been so incompetent, they could have Kyle too. Seems they just make bad decision after bad decision. If we were rebuilding, I bet guys like Bosa and Williams (if still young of course) would be cornerstones you'd want to build around. Instead they just keep blowing it up every year, as though ERs grow on trees. So glad Jed turned this s**t around.

Bro he can have 11 sacks. They can't afford him.

AB says otherwise. He said it was possible

He said we can add him while keeping BA. No brainer.

That would be awesome...I trust AB's take on that topic.

We can keep BA, Deebo, & Chase long term, might cost us a Aaron Banks, & Randy Gregory(pretty much a guarantee he gets cut or traded if Chase is re-signed), also guys like Lenoir would be casualties.

We all love AB but he thinks and wants us to keep everybody. It's just not going to happen. You really think they are going to add another 20 million a year plus contract to this d line?

I know we can't keep everyone, I still believe we can keep Mooney, AA, & Dre, plus keep BA, Huf, & Chase, just means we lose Banks, Lenoir, Gregory, but the deals would have to be structured friendly, I've already started with projected contracts for all but Chase, & Lenoir.

https://49erscap.com/index.php/2024-offseason-plan/

You'll see we can keep the core together, and I didn't even touch Deebo's deal, I also didn't release or redo Gregory, as I want to see Chase play for us for a bit to see how he does before I say extend him for sure.

Hahahaha, honestly it has been their MO. But... that is why we have 12 draft picks. Reload the o-line and the secondary with those picks which is basically the plan regardless. If they keep drafting well that is actually a good way to maintain a playoff caliber roster even if we have to pay the QB. When you hit a gem you keep that guy etc.

He usually does a fantastic job outlining how we can do it, can you show the same for why we can't?

Well let me rephrase that. I should've used won't instead of can't. I will agree with AB on whatever his numbers say. It wouldn't be a smart move. This team has to invest these funds into other areas of the team. How can they justify four d lineman making 20 million a year and can't pay a decent guard or right tackle to block? Or pay a decent slot CB? It's would be really bad way of constructing your team to dump so much money into one position. Just like paying Deebo and BA both over 20 million a year when they are a low volume passing team. It makes no sense.

They went out and got the top rated slot corner available in FA. He hasn't worked out or played well. But that's hardly a salary issue or us not going out and trying to improve certain positions.
I hope Wilks doesn't have him playing nickel with his scheme. Then again he is probably better at it than Oliver!

Well nobody in the world can be worse. We all on this board would give up 100% completions as well.
if he balls out, I am completely fine with trading Armstead/Hargave. Definitely don't think we can have 4 guys on the dline making greater than 20 million a year. We need some run stuffers in the middle as well which neither Armstead/Hargave are great at.

Pretty sure it would hurt us more in a cap hit trading either of them. Let Kinlaw walk and restructure Armstead would probably open up more cap space

We also gain some cap space with some dead cap coming off the books, I think like 19m ?

How many more years is AA on the books? We need more DJ Jones and less AA and Kinlaw. We need solid run stuffing interior linemen and have ends like Young and Bosa collapse the pocket.

Isn't Ford dead money off the books next year? Seems that tired gift keeps giving.

Edit: was lazy took a look. Almost $31m dead money this year. Ford, Lance, Ward a good chunk. Yes, no Ford dead money next year. He was near $9m this year. He's gone. It says only around $6m dead money next year thus far. All Lance.

$31m dead money this year vs $6m Lance only next year (so far) is a nice cap pick-up. Heck we seem to be doing okay. Front office a bunch of money brains

He's going to be a game wrecker and look better than his rookie year.
