Hope I'm wrong, but I'll eat a shoe if he's still a 49er come next April.

I don't know, it looks like he is having real fun at the moment. And winning is always a plus. We can but hope.

If we somehow win it all, I think he goes to highest bidder for a payday.

Playing for a crap organization and then coming here, matters. It isn't like he's played at some stellar rate - I don't see why he isn't resignable. Just depends on how we structure guys contracts.

personally, I want to see how he plays the rest of the season before worrying about it. He's an awesome talent and close friend of Bosa's. I also love having gregory as the backup pass rusher.

so much better than Jackson and hyder. Lol embarrassing.

I don't think we can keep Deebo and Aiyuk and extend Young.

They can keep all 3, it's doable, check out my offseason plan for 2024, https://49erscap.com/index.php/2024-offseason-plan/

Excellent. But I feel like Chase will demand more than that. I feel like he'd want at least top 5 money, probably over 25 million a year. And if he really plays well, someone will probably pay it.

EDIT: unless he values winning and being with his former college boi, then maybe he'll take 22.

I can see him wanting that, but I don't see the 49ers going top 5 EDGE for 2 guys, if he's willing to take what Sweat got, $24.5M a yr, I do it in a heartbeat, I went with $22M for now, I need to see more of him, if he continues this, my projection(s) will change, always fluid. I once thought Moseley was a $10M+ a yr CB, maybe he will be one day, but I was wrong, maybe it's because of the two torn ACLs he's had in back to back yrs that didn't get him the deal he wanted. I never claim to know everything, or get everything right, but I said DeFo would get at least $20M a yr, ppl said I was crazy, he got $21M, I said on several podcasts that Bosa would get $34M-$35M a yr, he got $34M, and Deebo, I said in the $23M-$25M a year range, he got $23.85M without incentives, forget the APY with incentives. Maybe they do something like that with Young, he gets like a base of $23M a yr, with $1M in incentives each year, so it can be $24M a yr, something to think about.

Yup, its tough to have quality starters across the lines, never mind backups.
If young does leave, we could potentially get a better pick back for him than we gave up for him. Lol wild

"Let's assume Young is a rental for the 49ers, and signs a free agent deal elsewhere for, say, $23 million a year in March 2024. It's likely the Niners will get a third-round Compensatory Pick in return in the 2025 draft—unless they sign another high-priced free agent or two, which is unlikely given their current salary structure and need to re-sign their own top players. If Young leaves and the 49ers get a third-round pick in return, the pick would be likely be somewhere in the 97 to 101 range. Let's, for fun, call it the 99th pick.

So this trade could end up being:

San Francisco trades the 101st pick in 2024 to Washington

San Francisco acquires Young for the final nine regular-season games in 2023 and possibly some number of postseason games, plus the 99th pick in 2025.

Imagine getting the benefit of Young for 11 or 12 games—and then a slightly better draft pick than you traded for him."

All gravy I'm not criticizing you. In fact, I was hoping you could redo it but this time for the "worst" case scenario in which Chase asks for top DE money (I say "worst" in quotes because obviously if he plays that well, we probably had an outstanding, possible Super Bowl champion, season ).

Would rather keep him, than the dreaded 3rd round pick

We have hit on like 1/12 third round selections since Lynch/Kyle have been here. (Fred Warner).

id much rather keep young. I've always been a big fan of his and I'm hoping him enjoying playing here with Bosa (dear friend), that he is willing to work out a contract that works for us. Our team is crafty and we may just do what we did this year - change a bunch of base salary to bonus and spread it out.

still need to see how he does but I've always really liked young, big fan of his. Mountain of a man
