Money is important but it's also important to be happy with who/where you work. It's different for each person, but there is a large value to enjoying every day at work. Most people don't understand that cause they don't like where they work - but it changes your entire life.

we spend more time at work than anywhere else - it's important to enjoy that huge portion of your day, and not dread it.

At the end of the day, he's going to go to whoever offers him the most money. Now if the Niners are close, sure some of those other factors may play a part, but I'd think the biggest would be whether or not the team wins the SB. If he gets a ring he'll definitely want to maximize his value. Most of what his next contract looks like will be based on his play this year, so the better he plays, the smaller the chance he's back next year.

I just think it's ridiculous to assume that any player is going to go wherever they get "the most money". Lol I can speak to a ton of players who didn't do that. A lot of it comes down to structure, guaranteed money etc. playing for a good organization and team typically comes with some sort of haircut. Even hargrave could of got more elsewhere (he spoke about it).

im not saying we are going to resign Young for $5M a year. Lol but I can see him taking 3-5M less to stay here than he can get some crappy organization.

not everyone's motivated by solely money, especially someone's who already made $34.5M and he's 24-25 years old.

money is important but he isn't just going to go wherever he gets the most money, IMO. I don't think that's true for most players and I've seen a lot of ex players talk about regretting doing that. I hope we resign him but for like $17M, who knows.

i feel like he won't have many teams, if any, looking to give him a 3-4+ year contract cause of his injury history. It'll be interesting to follow

He's on his rookie contract and the next one he signs will likely be the biggest of his career and best chance to maximize the money he makes in the NFL. If you want to hold out hope that he'll take a discount on that payday to stay here, I won't stop you.

What has he done to earn as much, or more, than nick bosa? Lol if his next contract is the best of his career - then he's had a very disappointing career.

he was also the #2 pick - so he's made $34M over the last four years. It isn't like he's hurting for money like most rookies.
im not saying he is going to take some massive pay cut, I'm saying that's it's ignorant to just assume every player is going to go wherever they get paid the most. Lol

A lot of what he gets offered will depend on how he finishes this year, so we will have to wait and see. I just would be surprised if a bunch of teams will be lining up to guarantee him $20M+ a year for 4+ years, based on his last 3 years.

If it's not bigger than Bosa's contract. Then he's playing here for the next few years

So you think he'll be playing here next year unless he gets the biggest contract for a defensive player in league history? I don't think he needs to demand near that much to put him out of the range Lynch and Paraage would be willing to pay.

edit: many variables at play to determine whether or not he'd return, but IMO the biggest is what he'd want vs what the team would be WILLING to pay, not what they could afford, and his play this season will dictate most of that.

We don't know what he wants.. but l think he stays a 9er if it's under Bosa's (not really a bold prediction but i think it's true)

AB has number based on avgs somewhere, he's say it's not an issue. hopefully it's true

Yeah he said the biggest pay day of his career, which means he's going to sign a massive deal for a long time. Would also mean when that contract is up, he's on the downside of his career and older. So it would need to be a huge 5-6 year contract. Lol

I think he will be a land a 2-3 year contract that pays somewhere between like $17-21M - with a lot of it being incentive base. Not much guarantee because of his health.

(This is purely my opinion) - I think the most anyone will offer him is like $20-22M a year but with a lot of non guaranteed money. So when I say I think he will take less to be here - I could see him taking like $17-$18M a year here (with potential incentives like pro bowl etc) on a two - three contract. Making him a free agent at like 27-28 years old to sign a mega deal.

Here is the best place to prove himself and win. So if he signed a 2-3 year contract at that range, it'll set him up best to get a massive payday in 2-3 years.

instead Of takin $22M with a team like the packers or giants , who are a disaster and suck.

That's what I mean by young taking a "haircut" to be here and why I'm disagreeing with the idea that he will go wherever he gets paid the most. I could be wrong, who knows, but that's what I'm tryin to say.

This is exactly what I see. I was thinking a 2 year deal, which can give him 2.5 years on this line. He should feast as a pass rusher and if he has good health, some team will gladly give him a huge long-term deal in 2026. If he can be had for 17 - 22, without a lot of guarantees we absolutely should do that.
