He wants to stay and he should
Money is important but it's also important to be happy with who/where you work. It's different for each person, but there is a large value to enjoying every day at work. Most people don't understand that cause they don't like where they work - but it changes your entire life.
we spend more time at work than anywhere else - it's important to enjoy that huge portion of your day, and not dread it.
At the end of the day, he's going to go to whoever offers him the most money. Now if the Niners are close, sure some of those other factors may play a part, but I'd think the biggest would be whether or not the team wins the SB. If he gets a ring he'll definitely want to maximize his value. Most of what his next contract looks like will be based on his play this year, so the better he plays, the smaller the chance he's back next year.
I just think it's ridiculous to assume that any player is going to go wherever they get "the most money". Lol I can speak to a ton of players who didn't do that. A lot of it comes down to structure, guaranteed money etc. playing for a good organization and team typically comes with some sort of haircut. Even hargrave could of got more elsewhere (he spoke about it).
im not saying we are going to resign Young for $5M a year. Lol but I can see him taking 3-5M less to stay here than he can get some crappy organization.
not everyone's motivated by solely money, especially someone's who already made $34.5M and he's 24-25 years old.
money is important but he isn't just going to go wherever he gets the most money, IMO. I don't think that's true for most players and I've seen a lot of ex players talk about regretting doing that. I hope we resign him but for like $17M, who knows.
i feel like he won't have many teams, if any, looking to give him a 3-4+ year contract cause of his injury history. It'll be interesting to follow
