I'm dying to know what kind of deal you gave him? What sucks about Madden this year is you can't extend guys, since the 49ers are over the cap in 2024, have to wait to extend Jauan, and others.

He's on his rookie contract and the next one he signs will likely be the biggest of his career and best chance to maximize the money he makes in the NFL. If you want to hold out hope that he'll take a discount on that payday to stay here, I won't stop you.

What has he done to earn as much, or more, than nick bosa? Lol if his next contract is the best of his career - then he's had a very disappointing career.

he was also the #2 pick - so he's made $34M over the last four years. It isn't like he's hurting for money like most rookies.
im not saying he is going to take some massive pay cut, I'm saying that's it's ignorant to just assume every player is going to go wherever they get paid the most. Lol

A lot of what he gets offered will depend on how he finishes this year, so we will have to wait and see. I just would be surprised if a bunch of teams will be lining up to guarantee him $20M+ a year for 4+ years, based on his last 3 years.

Is that really what you think I was saying? Wow.
then what are you saying?

If it's not bigger than Bosa's contract. Then he's playing here for the next few years

So you think he'll be playing here next year unless he gets the biggest contract for a defensive player in league history? I don't think he needs to demand near that much to put him out of the range Lynch and Paraage would be willing to pay.

edit: many variables at play to determine whether or not he'd return, but IMO the biggest is what he'd want vs what the team would be WILLING to pay, not what they could afford, and his play this season will dictate most of that.
We don't know what he wants.. but l think he stays a 9er if it's under Bosa's (not really a bold prediction but i think it's true)

AB has number based on avgs somewhere, he's say it's not an issue. hopefully it's true
why would this guy get anywhere close to Bosa? *I don't see it. He was graded 60 last game.

I think he will be a land a 2-3 year contract that pays somewhere between like $17-21M - with a lot of it being incentive base. Not much guarantee because of his health.

(This is purely my opinion) - I think the most anyone will offer him is like $20-22M a year but with a lot of non guaranteed money. So when I say I think he will take less to be here - I could see him taking like $17-$18M a year here (with potential incentives like pro bowl etc) on a two - three contract. Making him a free agent at like 27-28 years old to sign a mega deal.

Here is the best place to prove himself and win. So if he signed a 2-3 year contract at that range, it'll set him up best to get a massive payday in 2-3 years.

instead Of takin $22M with a team like the packers or giants , who are a disaster and suck.

That's what I mean by young taking a "haircut" to be here and why I'm disagreeing with the idea that he will go wherever he gets paid the most. I could be wrong, who knows, but that's what I'm tryin to say.

This is exactly what I see. I was thinking a 2 year deal, which can give him 2.5 years on this line. He should feast as a pass rusher and if he has good health, some team will gladly give him a huge long-term deal in 2026. If he can be had for 17 - 22, without a lot of guarantees we absolutely should do that.

yeah that's what I think is most likely to happen, assuming everything stays consistent between now and the end of the year. We should be willing to do this if we want two good pass rushers. We've desperately needed it for a while now

Yeah and AB will be a better source for this next part I'm going to say but I imagine if we can get thin on a 2 or 3 year deal, We can do some tricky things to spread out his salary cost over a 4-5 year period. That way to save some in the near term.

I can see a short 2-3 yr deal, but also can see a 5yr deal if he wants to cash in, depends on the rest of the way, with his production. But any deal he would sign would include void years most likely anyway.

So first off Trent Williams retired. And I should correct myself, I let him hit free agency because you are right, I had negative cap space so couldn't resign anyone in season. I then restructured everyone I could in the offseason which gave me like $40 mil or more maybe, can't quite remember. And then he was asking for like 18.5 mil a year so I went over a mil and offered 19.5 mil a year. And he finished the year with over 10 sacks. Also became an X factor. Felt like a bargain actually lol.

You don't like sacks and pressures on the QB? Because he had both today.

I believe he had one sack, and that was towards when the game was basically over.. I personally thought he played better against the Jagz..

Do you remember who that sack was against? Tristan Wirfs, who hadn't given up a sack all season up until that point according to the announcers. He also beat him pretty soundly on the sack.

Tristan has an ankle injury... glad to see Chasanator recorded a sack for us.. but really, he still NOT THERE yet..
Mediocre game for him. He has to play way better is he wants the bag.

You want him to price himself out of San Francisco?

His ankle injury wasn't significant enough to keep him out of the game. Maybe that is why Chase beat him so bad though.

Also, if he just goes on an absolute tear and is a monster, we basically have no chance of resigning him. 1.5 sacks I believe he has after the acquisition. If he keeps the pace up that he is currently at after 2 games, we probably still can't resign him.
