I would do an incentive based deal right now if the offseason were today, I still think on the open market he'll command somewhere what Montez Sweat got, $24.5M a year, I'm fine paying him that, now that Gregory's deal voids, we need to keep Chase IMO.

I'd love to keep him, but not at $24.5mil/yr. He's a good possibly great player, but that's more than Hargrave signed for. We'd have $100mil/yr just on the defensive line. We'll see how the season finishes, but while he's been very solid and a clear upgrade, he's not blowing me away with his play. Bosa had more sacks last season than Young has in his career.

Montez Sweat might be a somewhat similar comparable--- he hasn't notched more than 9 sacks in a season, and yet gets $24.5M a year?
That's what an edge rusher can get on the open market? Yeah, that's a pretty big number.

I don't know if I'd want to do that either when we have other players we want to re-sign. But if he's willing to take a shorter term deal and a discount, I'd happily take that.

At the end of the season they're going to need to look at how much better he is at his job than a guy like Clelin Ferrell who's making $2.5mil. I like what he's done so far, but unless the team is bursting with cap space then I don't know about dishing out $20mil+ to him. For years we've had solid contributions on the line from guys in that couple million/yr range, and unless he proves to be a game changer throughout the end of the year then I don't know how you commit a ton to him. It's gotta be a short 2-3 year deal they can get out of in the last season if anything.

Defense has vastly improved with the addiction of Chase. Bosa gets pin his ears back more.

That was also when they took Oliver out of the lineup and shifted around the secondary. I think it's a good combination of both aspects and excited to see them down the stretch.

There is a reason we made the in season trade for Chase Young and there is a reason we keep hearing things like "Chase unlocked the pass rush". We are in a unique situation where we have TWO top 2 talents very young and very productive playing at the second most important position on the football field. Pass rusher. When you have this in the building and don't have to draft this or trade for it, you think long and hard about relinquishing it.

We know how Kyle and John feel about building this team through the DL and now that we have a cheap MVP candidate QB, we will pay Chase Young and we will draft more talent at OL DL DB and get better on ST and we will keep winning and shelling out whatever it takes to be a perennial contender. We need to keep Chase and Nick together just like Freeney and Mathis were in IND and keep this train going for another 4 to 5 years

We don't need to allow Aiyuk or Chase leave the building

And for years fans have been saying WHAT IF we could get another really good edge rusher opposite Bosa....and crying that Dee Ford never worked out. Chase Young is better than Dee Ford EVER was.

Chase Young has Dee Ford vibes.

Washington didn't pick up his fifth year option and traded him for peanuts despite already having 5 sacks this year.

Teams don't do that with productive edge rushers

I wouldnt sign him in 2024. Worry about Greenlaw, BA and Purdy, which would be 2025.

Teams also do not trade franchise LTs with years of best in NFL play left for a 3rd.
I think he becomes the most important resign this offseason. They can find affordable rotation guys, but you can not replace his skill set.
Chase Youngs problem has always been injuries not production i want to resign him having 2 elite EDges with chemistry is huge
