Sports Illustrated Shutting Down

Back in the mid 1970's the Sports Ilustrated NFL Season Preview edition was "must have" reading. I bought that the day it hit the stores, usually around mid August. Street and Smith's Pro Football Preview was another must-have. They did cost an extra buck or two more than just a standard copy, but it was worth it. The in-depth coverage of each team ws incredible. It got you very jacked for the start of the regular season. As I recall, SI was big on Bill Walsh and the West Coast Offense long before the East Coast dominated sports media took notice.

Well it was mostly a magazine and people don't do that anymore. Unless they switched to online. But it had a good run. The swimsuit edition was the best.

Not anymore😂
yea they had a great run
Newspapers, magazines and books in general are dying a slow death thanks to everything on-line and real time. Who want's to read yesterday's news ?

Ya, that's exactly why they shut down. Lol stupid

Yeah, I wouldn't go so far, as there's a place for everything. That said, there's a reason Victoria's Secret has reversed course.

They reversed course because it's a horrible brand and they have way more competitors from more influential people nowadays as opposed to the 90's when they were the only ones.

'Get woke, go broke' more like 'sometimes companies are just fu*king terrible'

These writers will soon be obsolete as well…nearly everything will be AI-generated within 5-10 years

Good riddance- It's what they get for trading in writers like Peter King for Grant Cohn.

What is Sports illustrated?

It's something I used to diddle with when they had the swimsuit edition.

Yes. Similar to the bra section of the Sears catalog.

So sad. It's true what they say. Once you go woke you go broke. SI used to be " THE BIBLE" for all sports fans.😒

have read one since the 90s.....

I kept a subscription to them for years because they use to send out a season recap video tape that showed a recap of each 49er game, with a primer on the upcoming season...that had a recap on all the draft choices. It was NFL films quality stuff, heck it might have been made by NFL films...I don't recall...

either way pre-internet it was cool to have those....I had I dunno 5 or so years of that on my vhs shelf....so wanted to relive the 1989 season...pop in the tape.....
