It is easy to say that the old rules are better, because the 49ers lost in the SB, however the 49ers would have lost in the old rules too, since they only kicked a FG. So, it really is a matter or preference, not rewriting the rules so that your preferred team wins.

I think college has a great OT and the NFL should do that, from the 50. Cuz pro kickers have more club. From the 50 you have to work your way into FG range.

The rules are fine. Made for an entertaining finish. Unfortunately we didnt know the rules and/or fully think through the likely outcomes and made terrible decisions.

Personally, I don't like that OT is going to take so long with normally at least 3 possessions. I think if your defense can't stop a touchdown, you deserve to lose the game. As it stands now, the OT rules are slanted towards the offense.
