Any disguised blitzes or creative schemes? Looks like the usual rush 4 and hope for the best

Huff isn't great in coverage either. So will be interesting to see if it improves.

He at least makes plays. Odum is a disgrace out there. Dude is nothing more than a special teamer

This defense will never be elite if they don't do something about the Safety position. How much do you think Hufanga coming off a torn ACL can do for this team, its gonna be the same b******t. They need to go out and trade for one and stop being a b***h about the Safety position!!

Still can't believe we didn't get Simmons, especially for the price of the one year deal he signed.

I saw a Lenoir blitz, it was easily picked up and Vikings picked up an easy first down.

I think there's truth to your thinking as well. In 19 our defense was new and did great. Now everyone knows what we do with the wide 9 and it has its weakness'.

We don't have Earl Thomas back there either... but I agree they would do well with some new wrinkles. The d line just looks mostly old to me. Boss is great but he's literally doubled with a chip almost every play or he's so aggressive he takes himself out of it.

can this new DC do that? I have no idea.

Meh I don't think the d line looks old at all. The problem is we can't cover very long at a high level. Secondary is a much bigger concern than anything else.
I agree

I wouldn't give the D line a free pass but I do think they are over blamed and the larger problem is the coverage not the pass rush.

I rewatched that final Vikings drive and every 3rd down conversion was on the coverage not the pass rush.

3rd and 7 guy was wide open for a quick and easy completion

3rd and 8 Darnold does his drop back and lets it rip for a big gain. If the coverage held up it looked like Hargrave was a second away from putting the center in Darnold's lap.

3rd and 2 the WR gets inside of Yiadom for an easy pitch and catch. Not going to rake the defense over the coals for allowing a conversion when the offense needs 2 yards but it's still on Yiadom for allowing the WR to get inside leverage on him.

If we're going to rush 4 and drop 7 the coverage shouldn't be getting beat as quickly and as often as it does. We should be making the QB hold onto the ball a little longer.

Last year we were 3rd in the league with QB hits but 18th in sack percentage. The other teams in the top 5 in QB hits were also in the top 5 for sack percentage. To show it's not just a Wilks thing in 2022 we were again 3rd in QB hits but 14th in sack percentage. Now maybe I'm interrupting the data wrong but what that suggests to me is that we get close enough to get the QB hit but the QB is able to get the ball off before we get the sack. So again maybe the conclusion is wrong but if we force the QB to hold the ball longer instead of just getting a QB hit we'd get more sacks.

Should have kept DeMeco and fired the cuckold

It seems like we did a variety of things up front with more stunts, lining up differently like overloading one side, and etc.

We did do a couple of questionable things I noticed like dropping Bosa into zone coverage and on that first 3rd down of the Vikings final drive they lined up Warner on the outside to blitz where he proceeded to get chipped by the TE and taken care of by the tackle.

Eh maybe the Warner thing would've worked by giving the other guys 1v1s with the offensive linemen but I just think Warner is way better blitzing the middle and catching linemen off guard instead of lining up like an OLB and rushing from far outside.

Says who????????? On that route the best wr in the NFL is going to be a step past the safeties. Darnold just needed to launch it 55 ish yards in the air and it's a TD. Darnold talent>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brock. Prob is his head. We saw him every practice. Major coaching fail. Our D should have picked him off 3 times.WTF

We should have never had 2 safeties on JJ. Gotta have a corner on him at all times, and should almost always be Ward or demo

This. It's almost like put the OC hat on- what would Aiyuk rather have, a corner or a safety on him? That was just a bad plan from the start.

We need Huf back. Having backups and rookies out there with an inexperienced Ji'Ayir Brown is a problem.

Who are the rookies?

DeMeco was more than deserving of a head coaching job. There was no way of keeping him if the right opportunity showed itself.

Might be misunderstanding but I think he was saying we should have fired Kyle and promoted Ryans
