Ah The Emmett Smith rule. Always glad when that happens to remind everybody of what a jerk he was.

Cost the Browns an opening-day game victory about 20 years ago against the Chiefs when Dwayne Rudd tossed his helmet on the last play of the game in celebration, which made it no longer the last play of the game. Two of my brothers are still furious on that one to this day.

I reMEMBER that!
What's the deal with Minnesota? I swear they've had some b******t phony years like 3 times in the last 6 or 7 years. Heading to 14+ wins but the reality is they are an 8 win team at most.
Hockenson eating up the middle of the Packers' secondary - may not matter with atrocious clock management from the Vikes.

Just like the curse Kyle the knee Williams cast over us, Gary Anderson's miss carries over Minny. It seems inevitable at some point they will crumble as they always do. I'm cheering for em for my dad's sake and Bill Brown is from my home town.

They remain an "also-ran" team. I don't know about a legit 14+ win team, but they are a legit "also-ran" playoff team this season.

Yeah, that was another funny one...1998 team that went 15-1. Guess I'm still bothered by 1987 with these turds.

Always liked the Bud Grant teams of the '70s.....'75 was the other killer year (besides '98) for Minnesota, as that team was right there, and the Cowboys pulled off the miracle in the Divisional round - think they had a better shot against the Steelers than the previous season. We'll never know.

Of course, things change.....then came the '80s......and then the ridiculous Walker trade......time always marches on.

Difference is, they actually had a good team in the 1970's under Grant and Tarkenton.....it's just that the Cowboys in the NFC and Mia/Oak/Pitt in the AFC were better.

This Vikings franchise of the last 10 years have had records that are nearly equal to those Vikes teams from 50 years ago, the but the talent is nowhere close. I mean....comparing Fran Tarkenton to Keenum/Darnold?
Please don't target Tucker Kraft in the 2nd half!
Darnold playing well right now.

It's not realistic to comare talented teams from the 70s and 80s with teams now. They didn't have as many teams in the early years so each team got more picks. There wasn't any free agency or salary cap so teams could stockpile players at a level that's impossible now. Some of thse great teams had backups that were as good as the starters. One of the major differences between teams then and now is they didn't fall apart with a couple injuries. They had enough depth to survive.
Packers are pretenders
The two teams I least want to see come out of the NFC are the Eagles and Packers, but they both have a good chance along with the Lions and Vikings.
As soon as I compliment him, he sees ghost again lol
