Now I really understand why sing was pissed when McCloughan traded Hill and signed Carr.

anyone worried????
Not if the team keeps Sims on the 53 man roster. He did very well while Staley was out last season.
It isn't like Staley is great anyway....... average left tackle IMO.
um he pretty much shut down Freeney and Allen the last two games, and he can run block unlike Sims

i can't believe im saying this
i miss shaun hill
He knew the playbook, could win games, and was cheap. You can't ask for more than that in a back up.
The problem with Hill is that he was too good. Now Smith easily gives us the best chance to win, with Hill it was highly debatable.
No. As it stands right now it wouldn't be debatable. Hill would be a solid #2.
Based on in-game performance it might be, we haven't seen Hill in this offense this pre-season. As it was when Hill was traded, it was debatable. Now if Smith sucks nobody is clamoring for David Carr to come in the game but I assure you if Hill was on the sidelines everybody would be calling for him the first time Smith screwed up.
I'm not sure. When Alex had a couple of tough games last year (Tennessee, Philly) there really wasn't much of a clamor for Hill. I think Hill's limitations were pretty well exposed. But that doesn't mean he isn't a good option at a #2.
I disagree. Hill never did anything to lose his job and everybody knew it. The reason he was benched was so that Alex could reach his full potential; but if we realized after a game or two that Smith's potential was a below-average QB then people would want the proven winner, especially when our defense only has so many years of dominance left. Hill's limitations were exposed but he still won games consistently, something Smith has been unable to do.
No. Not everyone knew it. The offense went completely nowhere in the Atlanta and the first half of the Houston games. They were playing 8 or 9 men in the box and the Niners could not exploit it. They took away the short game from Hill and he could do very little about it.

No, I don't think he does. I'm hoping this is just his way of telling Nate to work his ass off. Of course with the way Carr is playing, the plan maybe backfiring.
