I wasn't sure about Evans. I thought he might be too light for our 3-4, but the line can use some talent. Soap or Balmer are going to end up rotating at NT now.

lol, derek smith was actually really good for us his first couple years.
Most memorable D-smith moment was that Goal-line stand vs Philly in 2001-02 where he picked off Mcnabb in the endzone. He was a decent player until he started to decline with nolan.

Hope he turns out to be another Roy Barker ??

AWE MAN Empire...you just brought back some GOOOOD memories with that one! If we can be that strong again....WOW!

PD

When I heard he's a good run stopper , It made me think about when we picked up Barker they said the same thing. But Barker turned out to be a decent pass rusher as well.

Walt Harris
Zak Keasey
Taylor Jacobs
Demetric Evans
Derek Smith
Dana Stubblefield
Otis Leverette
Tyronne Drakeford
Ray Brown
Charles Mann
Ricky Ervins

And then we have
Brandon Lloyd
Andre Carter
Mike Rumph
Piersen Prioleau
Jeff Posey
Kevin Mitchell
Deion Sanders
Mark McMillian

Why do you have Stubblefield on the Redskins list? The 49ers drafted him.

I thought Ray Brown was a Niner first or am I wrong?
so this guy took rod green's spot, but can't pass rush??? I think we have enough run stoppers! We need pass rushers!! But we are getting some quality depth! Balmer better step his game up this year!

Nope, he was with the Redskins before coming to the Niners. He ended up going back to the Redskins to finish off his career though.

Seems like most of them are bummed for the loss of Evans. Will be interesting to see how he adapts to the 3-4.[/quote

It appears Evans will be a back-up end to Justin Smith & Sopoaga.

hope Balmer can push for playing time this season.

McDonald still not healthy?

Did you really just bump a 4 month old thread by quoting someone's reply and adding nothing to the discussion?

He replaces Marques Douglas from 2 seasons ago.

Great depth. Evans, Sopoaga, Balmer, McDonald at DEs...not too shabby.
