"Don't San Francisco and Washington always swap each others sloppy seconds? Off the bat here are a few that come to mind...."

Walt Harris
Zak Keasey
Taylor Jacobs
Demetric Evans
Derek Smith
Dana Stubblefield
Otis Leverette
Tyronne Drakeford
Ray Brown
Charles Mann
Ricky Ervins

And then we have
Brandon Lloyd
Andre Carter
Mike Rumph
Piersen Prioleau
Jeff Posey
Kevin Mitchell
Deion Sanders
Mark McMillian

Why do you have Stubblefield on the Redskins list? The 49ers drafted him.

True, but he came back to us after playing for the Skins, so he could be on both lists.

Charles Mann and Ricky Ervins played for the niners???????

lol, derek smith was actually really good for us his first couple years.

He was "good" on our s**ttiest teams in franchise history.

So pretty much, he was a polished turd.
Nolan liked to hang on to and play vets over younger players. I think Nolan was like George Allen; he just didn't trust rookies. With Nolan, he just kept playing guys way too long into their decline. Walsh was ruthless, as soon as a guy got older and just BEGAN their decline he cut them. Youth must be served.
Last steal we got from the Skins turned out pretty well so hopefully it will be the same with Evans.
Evans' value isn't just what he can do on the field...but, he's a guy Balmer can emulate. Every team needs those vets who can show the youngsters how it's done. I think he'll prove to be an excellent acquisition.

Derek Smith had about 5 good years for us before he declined.
