Gore is in the realm of Dick Butkus / Ronnie Lott badassery. Dude had two major knee injuries before entering the NFL and is still going as a 34 year old running back in a pass heavy era
The slander in this thread. I just read that frank wasn't considered an elite running back throughout his career. Revisionist history is a mother...
Speaking as if "racking up yards" is a bad thing. Man has put up atleast 1200 yards from scrimmage every year of his career. Put up 1300 yards LAST year.

This isn't longevity for longevity sake. This is the best offensive player on a team that went to 3 straight nfc championship games, the best running back in the history of one the most storied franchises in the league, one of the toughest players ever in a game full of tough players.

Put him with Jt o Sullivan, Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer, Collin Kaepernick, Andrew luck, anyone you want, and he's gonna produce. Power running, spread offense, read option, outside zone, any system you can dream up, he's gonna run it, and pass block it too. The league literally evolved around him, rule changes always in favor of the passing game, every contemporary this man had at the start is long gone, and he just threw up a 1000 years season (again).

Soon-to-be top 5 rusher of all time, ran us out of the doldrums, ran us 5 yards away from ring # 6, respect that man.

Only a fo' would deny frank is a generational talent. Few modern runners have his vision, his wiggle, his patience, his blocking. Dude is the best runner weve seen since joe perry. Who gets small like frank? No one. Hes a once in a lifetime performer who is getting carried in the hall of fame on pillows.

Happy birthday Frank!

And my son, who's 12 today

Elite as in he finished in the top-5 in rushing yards only one season in his career. Come on, man. People calling him elite and a generational talent. That's disrespectful to the rest of the RBs that have outperformed him.

Gore has consistently ranked in the 8-15 range for rushing yards each season throughout his career. HOFers should dominate their position and just because he carried our team, we're supposed to act like he dominated the league?

I expect that HOF voters will be split on him. Plenty of HOF RBs left the game in their prime, which means career yards is going to be important to some voters, but not really that important to others. That's really his only stat that would give him consideration. A significant one, nonetheless.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he got in one day, but don't expect a first ballot.

Your lack of football understanding is astounding.

I loved Frank as a 49er and thought he was a solid consistent RB. But, he was never a gamebreaker. He ran out of gas after 15-yards and either fell to the ground or was tackled. Don't you all remember the game against the Seahawks, i think, where he was wide open around the 20 yard line and couldn't juke the defender? That was around 5-6 years ago. Somehow he stuck around a lot longer in this league than he should have and just to pad his stats.

As far as i'm concerned, he's a "Yes Man" and T.O. or Roger Craig deserves the H.O.F. before Frank.

I'll add you to the list of football opinions to completely ignore.

Yeah, Gore always fell down after 15 yards, never broke a tackle, couldn't juke for s**t...

Or maybe just watch this video and see how stupid your post was.

I seriously question if some of you watched the 49ers while Frank was on the team.

They must of hopped on the wagon back in 2011
strickac is talking about yardage yardage yardage, and blah blah Frank's only good thing is yardage and he only got that because he's just been in the NFL a long time NBD

There are some many other things that make a HOFer, and Frank is all of them.

  1. He is the consummate professional. The antithesis of T.O. Frank gave his all every single play every single game. He never had a problem with anyone, and was a huge leader both on and off the field.
  2. He has been called one of the best blocking backs ever. His ability to pick up pressure and help out the line is insane.
  3. He has ALWAYS been consistently great. Frank has almost never had a down year. He's been a great RB in the league for 12 straight years. Almost no other RB in history can say that.
  4. He's done all of the above while playing for some of the worst teams in the league. Apart from a short run in the playoffs, Gore has accomplished all of this while on losing teams. Teams that won very few games, and had little other talent to help him out. He carried the load, and he did it all the time. AND STILL he has been great for 12 years.
  5. Any other mortal running back who was beaten as hard as Gore was would crumbled and fallen away a long time ago.

So STFU. Gore is an all time great RB, and the HOF voters will confirm that (and several already have).
