There are some many other things that make a HOFer, and Frank is all of them.

  1. He is the consummate professional. The antithesis of T.O. Frank gave his all every single play every single game. He never had a problem with anyone, and was a huge leader both on and off the field.
  2. He has been called one of the best blocking backs ever. His ability to pick up pressure and help out the line is insane.
  3. He has ALWAYS been consistently great. Frank has almost never had a down year. He's been a great RB in the league for 12 straight years. Almost no other RB in history can say that.
  4. He's done all of the above while playing for some of the worst teams in the league. Apart from a short run in the playoffs, Gore has accomplished all of this while on losing teams. Teams that won very few games, and had little other talent to help him out. He carried the load, and he did it all the time. AND STILL he has been great for 12 years.
  5. Any other mortal running back who was beaten as hard as Gore was would crumbled and fallen away a long time ago.
So STFU. Gore is an all time great RB, and the HOF voters will confirm that (and several already have).

Man watching him, how can you not see him as a future HOF? He was arguably the most important piece of the Harbaugh era. The only people that have his vision are hall of famers. He might not be first ballot, but he will get in for sure. If TD can make it, then he will make it in easily.

Okay, Janitor.

You'd be a great lawyer. Induct him because he played on s**tty teams, he blocked, and he was a professional. Strong case.

That must be it, only I joined this board before both of you guys. That year also happened to be when we drafted him. I've very familiar with Frank and his career.

I don't see how people get so defensive over this. Looking at it objectively, and not just as a Gore fan, it's obvious that Gore is a toss up for the Hall. He's far from a lock.
Well for some reason you are down on frank because hes not elite fast, when it really makes his career achievents so much more impressive.

I really hope he plays a few more years and takes over that 3 spot
One player I would not mind at all if we bring him back.

Damn good post. He was the best RB I've seen at picking up blitzes. Such an underrated part of the game (we lost Steve because of this).

Frank found creases that were not there. His vision and ability to "get small" was second to none. What a professional, and best RB in franchise history. HOFer.

His blitz pickup is one of, if not the best during his time in the NFL.

And remember all the direct snaps he used to get? I forget what OC that was. Turner? I loved the direct snaps. 6, 7 yards every time.

Classic Frank, turning a six inch gain into four yards by riding the guards butt crack. Man I miss that guy.
I think a lot depends on what your criteria is for a HOF RB.

To use recent inductees as standards for a HOF RB, Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis, Ladanian Tomlinson, and Terrell Davis all recently made the HOF.

I think the biggest knock on Frank Gore is he never really had 2-3 years where you could say "yep, he is the best in the league" or that he lead the league in rushing. Instead he was basically a consistent top 5 RB in the league. So I think Gore's career is comparable to Curtis Martin, as I don't think Martin was ever THE top RB, he was just consistently good.

Some people act like Gore is playing in his 16th season getting 100 yards or something to pad stats, lol. Dude is still effective and he has played basically just as long as Martin or Bettis.

I think Gore does deserve it because not only is he #8 rushing all time, but he is also #10 in yards from scrimmage. I mean for people to sit there and say he isn't HOF material, man, you guys must really not like him! Almost every player around Frank Gore in the record books is in the HOF.

And do you really think Curtis Martin, Jerome Bettis, or Thurman Thomas is that much better than Gore? All 3 of those guys were never "the best" RB in a given year IMO. They made it because they were consistently good.

And then IMO you throw in Gore's blocking ability and respect around the league? Definitely a HOF player. Its just a question of how long he waits. The HOF already has the criteria established that longevity is a positive factor over just 1 or 2 amazing years. I think of the HOF as really an award of elite level professionalism in the sport, someone that brings it year in year out to build a long successful career. And on that criteria, I don't know how you can't put Gore in there.

Take players like Larry Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson, Arian Foster etc. Sure they had some epic years, but they wont get that HOF nod because the HOF requires a long career of success. Its about a career not just a few years.

Finally, you got to look at the RBs of his era. Who had a better career than Gore? The only guys I'd say are a clear cut above him are Adrian Peterson and LT. Gore is in the 2nd group along with guys like Edgerrin James, and Steven Jackson. And out of those guys, yeah I'd put Gore behind AP and LT in terms of a successful career.
